I've been reading about your ailments for a while, and I am not complaining at all, this is a discussion forum. Don't get the wrong idea. But it occurred to me just now - maybe your body is acidic.

I'm not sure exactly how they test for this, but it has to do with the ph level in your entire body. Each and every cell in your body reacts differently in acidic or alkaline environments, so this affects the entire body. I would assume that either extreme, acidic or alkaline is not good. Caustic and acidic are opposite, but have certain effects. These affect the chemical reactions anywhere. It doesn't have to be extreme enough to burn through armor plate to be detrimental to health.

The whole premise is in good part, theory, but I think it sound. Might be worth looking into.

I have told her that on another thread to have her uric acid checked, it was ignored.

But anyways, rub pure olive oil (not Vaseline) on the outside and slightly inside your nose to avoid friction.  Puffs likely have many chemicals that would react with the acids within the snotties and make your irritation worse.

Hi,

I put antibiotic ointment on and in the raw places. Sure, the ointment gets rubbed off when I blow my nose again, but some of it stays. I replenish, especially at night. Helps me a ton. And when I get a bad cold, it's really bad.

came I never saw your comment, I haven't followed any of my threads in like 3 days. today is the first day I caught up on them.

I was wondering if things like puffs are not the greatest, then how come people keep getting to sell them? one of the advice nurses who's been sick for 3 weeks says she swears by puffs plus with menthol vapor in them. I wouldn't want something like that but there's gotta be something nice for your nose, maybe I'll get some old cotton t shirt rags lol an just wash em as I use em lol.

I think I am giving it to daddy now. He says his throat hurts a bit,I am trying not to pass it along,, but we can't really avoid passing the shit to one another, if he's sick he passes it to me.

It is interesting I'll ask Dr Fam about it on Friday.

I have both plain tissue & the puffs plus - which I use mainly at work.  Data entry w/millions of forms + dust allergy = a lot of nose blowing.

The ones with the lotions are a little kinder to the skin.  The lotion ones from puffs just have mineral oil in them - it cuts down on the friction I think.  Perhaps this is just my outlook - but how on earth are tissues which are used on your skin going to effect the mucous in your nose?  Maybe if you walk around with them stuffed inside your nose... I can see that.  The tiny amount of anything used on the outside of your nose that might enter your nose is going to be so ridiculously insignificant.  Plus, if TFB is blowing her nose so much the skin is getting raw its all going to get trapped in snot anyway (snot's job!)

If you already have normal Kleenex in the house TFB you might want to just add a little lotion, or a thin layer of Vaseline if you have it to your nose.  It'd be the cheap way and might help make your nose heal faster then just the softer tissues.

Im thinking Tfb has allergies.

It was on your recent thread about your heartburn after excercizing.

I knew you had bypassed it, which is not like you, but you did have quite a few replies that steered you towards discussing your rude doctor etc...so here is what I wrote:

the best tip is to drink water with lemon in it--routinely, to balance your body's acidity.  The general rule is consuming a balance of  avoiding certain alkaline and increasing the acidic.

It is actually ironic this was on, and this thread because I have had recent uric acid issues due to alkalinity in my bloodstream.  I have been totally run down, achy, headaches etc.  All because of drinking orange juice twice in one week--which made my body totally seize up. uhg

Anyhoo, here is a fast general listing: http://www.ctds.info/acidic-foods.html

but, as someone else mentioned later, do NOT use lemon or other citrus additives if you are on prescription drugs that it may effect, so do check on that first.
