It's voyuer, Jeff. Hey. Do us a favor. Go find those those damn WI Democrats hiding out in your neck of the woods, and kick their asses back across the state line.

When it comes down to it, it really doesn't matter what the libs on collarme think about Scott Walker and the republicans in Wisconsin. As president Obama said after he was elected in 2008, elections mean something. This election in Wisconsin is no dfferent. It also meant something to the folks that voted. Republicans won, democrats lost. That's it..This is my final word on this thread..GO PACK

Subverting the Democratic process:

quote:

Wisconsin Democrats could stay away for weeks

MADISON, Wis. – Democrats on the run in Wisconsin avoided state troopers Friday and threatened to stay in hiding for weeks, potentially paralyzing the state government in a standoff with majority Republicans over union rights for public employees...

...But the dramatic strategy that has clogged the Capitol with thousands of protesters clashes with one essential truth: Republicans told everyone months ago that unions would be one of their targets, and the GOP now has more than enough votes to pass its plans once the Legislature can convene.

Since it's obviously constitutional, it's an entirely legitimate tactic. Republicans don't like it? Tough shit, and fuck them. Let 'em simmer.

Time to see if the Tea Party can muster some counter protesters, maybe? Tomorrow is Saturday, they won't have to work.

Where did you see in that article that it was constitutional?

Right, how is it constitutional for legislators to flee from their duties.

The same way a filibuster is. The rules require a quorum, the minority is denying it to the majority.

At least one Dem isnt blatantly hypocritical:

quote:

Wis. Democratic Party Condemns Hateful Signs Targeting State's GOP Governor and Lawmakers

(CNSNews.com) - Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chairman Mike Tate is condemning  signs carried by pro-labor protesters that compare Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker to Hitler, Benito Mussolini and Hosni Mubarak and showed the governor with a cross-hairs rifle sight over his face.

In an interview with CNSNews.com, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Press Secretary Graeme Zielinski said that Tate and the party “absolutely” condemn the inflammatory signs but says that they are not representative of the majority of the protesters who have taken to the streets in opposition to the Governor’s plan.

I disagree with you, they ran for office and were elected to serve so that there would be a quorum. Thats what the voters sent them there for.

Heres a question - if the Wisconsin area union goons get their way and Walker is assassinated, will that be Obowmas fault for backing these special interest lobbyist friends of his?

The same way leftists still try to pin the Giffords assassination attempt on Governor Palin?

And whatever happened to Obowmas pledges to deliver us from lobbyists and special interest groups anyway.

quote:

Obama joins Wisconsin's budget battle, opposing Republican anti-union bill

MADISON, WIS. - President Obama thrust himself and his political operation this week into Wisconsin's broiling budget battle, mobilizing opposition Thursday to a Republican bill that would curb public-worker benefits and planning similar protests in other state capitals.

What I find outrageous is that we require teachers to be highly educated and highly accomplished at a very difficult profession but the mass of society expects them to work for chump change, crappy benefits, lousy working conditions and public condemnation.

Highly educated? Elementary through high school teachers in WI are required to have a BA or BS and complete a certification program if that degree is not in education. While it is more education than many have, I think of at least a Master's when someone speaks of being 'highly educated'.

Highly accomplished? I guess that depends on your meaning.

Wow. $48,000/ yr for a job that comes with 15 weeks of vacation is chump change? Who knew?

Crappy benefits? A whole lot of private sector workers would love to have those 'crappy' benefits.

I'll leave the 'lousy working conditions', as I do not know what the working conditions are like for teachers in WI

Public condemnation? If you say so. I tend to blame the parents if little Johnny turns out to be a complete asshat.

Just to throw a fox into the henhouse, I wonder how much different this thread would be if the most vocal protesters were DMV employees instead of teachers.

Interesting you should mention them. For the last couple of days, I've been kicking around the theory that what we're seeing on State Street this week is the first wave of a nationwide liberal-socially progressive backlash/counterpart to the Tea Baggers. As the Tea Party tries to drag the country back into the Middle Ages, more and more genuinely patriotic Americans will start to see the tangible results of their ignorant fascist lunacy, and rise up to meet the threat to traditional American values and ideals. Could make for some very interesting street drama in the next couple of years.
