RiotGirl -> Nipples (5/4/2006 8:15:07 AM)

Okay, i'm sitting here naked staring at my nipples (prolly tmi.. but deal) and i was wondering something.  You know those little dots around the nipple on the areola that alot of ppl think are pimples?  i've been told (i'm a curious person) that they're not pimples but lubrication for breastfeeding.  Now i breast fed and i dun remember any lubrication.  i've talked to a few girls bout it before.. so i know its abit common.. but none were a reliable source.

so whats the concensus on them.. ?  i'd like to settle the matter once and for all!

acissej -> RE: Nipples (5/4/2006 8:43:11 AM)

Yes, those are glands that produce lubrication during breastfeeding.  I've never been pregnant or breastfed, so I have no first hand experience to relate, but according to Web MD's Breasts 101 (http://www.webmd.com/content/article/87/99611.htm):

"The areola also houses the Montgomery glands, which act as tiny muscles that contract and widen to help get the milk out. The Montgomery glands also produce oils that lubricate your nipple and discourage the growth of bacteria on the skin of the nipple and areola during lactation. The Montgomery glands enlarge during pregnancy, giving your areola that knobby appearance."

WHAT! omg; please tell me it ain't so. i have inordinately large breast for a male.  i think i just discovered a new hard limit...breast feeding...Are you at all serious, respectfully of course. Breast feeding...gulp...(bad pun)... i mean it, no hormones or anything i've always had ... overly large breast...and now this bit of info... What next; do i even want to know?  Oh well, thanks for that information, i had no idea; and hope my One doesn't get any ideas lol...Seriously though, if that's true then what about male breast cancer, does it happen? How often, thanks, a very respectful and now concerned unserstud......breast feeding, cheech...oh the mortification.....

MsEmma -> RE: Nipples (5/5/2006 3:18:24 PM)

Yes Understud ....Men can get breast cancer.  They  have breast tissue just as women do.  Not many people know this, but it is quite common.

ropesubby39 -> RE: Nipples (5/5/2006 4:17:09 PM)

i did checked [;)], but always wondered what those were, i thought i was not normal, not that they really show.  Also, i was told that with some medication *natural product* i could produce like if i was pregnant, but its a long process.

Sometimes, its just best to not play with mother nature [:)]

AngelicPuzzle -> RE: Nipples (5/5/2006 4:25:15 PM)

Understud and RopeSubby.......any person has the ability to lactate without hormones or other chemicals or drugs.....if you get one of the breast pumps and keep well sucking on them LOL you will eventually produce milk.  Understud I know this isn't what you wanted to hear....I found this out from one of the breast feeding help sites....they were talking about adoption and the woman who wanted to breast feed rather than using formula - heres the link for those that are curious: http://www.lalecheleague.org/FAQ/adopt.html

I too didn't know the thing about male breast cancer thank you Emma for bringing that to are attention.  I think I had heard something about that but its been a long time and isn't talked about much.

understud -> RE: Nipples (5/6/2006 1:25:12 AM)

and i mean that ...what can i say, live and learn i guess
respectfully  and to you as well ...Emma please forgive but i don't know your title many apologies please excuse...
 a very  subdued ....understud

AngelicPuzzle -> RE: Nipples (5/7/2006 4:35:47 PM)

UnderStud,

I too was surprised .......I always thought lactating was limited to pregnant woman's hormones not just a matter of pumping them lol......talk about learning something new as a woman!!

then to find that guys can lactage uhmm errr just WOW!!! I understand that manual stimulating for lactation doesn't produce the same quantity but some can.....the things you learn LOL

Actually according to anthropologists this used to be possible.

SweetSarijane -> RE: Nipples (5/10/2006 7:54:50 PM)

Well I just learned something new. Now I'm going to have to google and read more lol. Very interesting.

NakedOnMyChain -> RE: Nipples (5/10/2006 9:53:14 PM)

I never knew they provided lubrication.  I always thought they were just muscles to help produce milk.  Interesting.  (By the way, if my damn boobs leak anymore I'm donating them to science.  It's getting embarrassing.)

OhBeMyMind -> RE: Nipples (5/14/2006 8:05:16 PM)

Within the umbrella topic of nipples, I have a question.....it's a bit off topic from the OP question.....has anyone ever experienced any type of adverse effects due to intense nipple play, nipple torture  (clamping, pinching, twisting, pulling....)?   Nothing that you would notice right away, but several days after the swelling has gone down and the nipples are barely, if at all, sore anymore.
I would prefer not to go into too much detail, as I tend to be a private person in this aspect, so if anyone has experience, or perhaps knows what I may be talking about, please feel free to message me on CM under the subject Nipples (serious contacts only please...please ....please).
If you find my CM profile to be unavailable due to recent updating, please post here so that I might be able to message you.
In the event that is not acceptable.....I guess post here so that I can read others experiences, and hope my experience or something like it will come up.

It is possible for males to produce milk with the right amount of stimulation and hormones. A few produce milk natrually.

Not yet, hopefully never. Aside from the nipple scabbing over and bruising on the breast, I've had no problems with nipple play.

According to online information regarding adoptive mothers it is still possible; for both men and women who've never been pregnant.  Too cool, huh?   ...but it takes awesome dedication!   <slurp...doncha just love a man who likes nipple stimulation?>  Oh sorry, I'll stop now.
