Well, if I KNEW someone was into this through a personal contact, I'd never tell...

But... Jolie has publicly (well, in small public groups) admitted that she's into S&M, but which side?

And Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nice) got a divorce over it. She drew the line when her husband tried to force her to do a public stunt at a club. UGLY divorce.

Heck, even Mary Tyler Moore did a bondage scene shoot in latex a few years ago. Pretty tame by todays standards, it's more intense on CSI.

Remember Vanessa Williams? The first black Miss America? The naughty photos? There was the first set, which were tasteful and artsy, and then the second set with leather harnesses and bondage gear. But never heard if she was really 'into' it.

The ones I know that aren't public? If you knew and it was private, why would anyone blow the trust?

If i have to speculate i would say that Taylor Lautner is a sub, and he has some leather fetish for sure (he has too many leather jackets to not have a fetish)

As someone who works with public figures, celebrities and musicians a lot in my 'normal job,' I can say that most people project fetishy type fantasies onto very normal people who are simply accomplished at their skill of acting. If I have been able to draw anything from meeting hundreds of these famous types, I think that athletes are FAR more likely to be kinky than people who are in theater of any kind, especially athletes in dangerous sports. I think it has something to do with risk taking, adrenalin junkies and physical prowess. Lots of people who "act" for a living tend to be outrageous only in very structured and safe situations and their very attraction to this kind of profession allows them safe ways to explore personalities far from their own.

Akasha

I would have to agree with this. I know many people in the entertainment industry, some of whom dress in fetish wear, some of whom have acted in roles that involved BDSM, but almost all of whom are actually quite vanilla. So I'm not sure one can really determine this SOLELY by their professional personas/dress/songs, etc. I think you would need more information than that about someone to draw clear conclusions. Although if someone is repeatedly dressing/alluding to BDSM, particularly more in their private lives, I think that different conclusions could be drawn.

I also do not think one can draw any conclusion from personality per se. A lot of people on this thread are assuming that a forceful personality means Dominant, and a softer personality means submissive. Well, I have a very forceful personality in my professional life. And I am a submissive. My male submissive friends are ALL totally dominant personalities in their professional lives. One of my previous Dominant partners was the most mild mannered man on the face of the planet. How someone behaves in public does not necessarily tell us what role they enjoy behind closed doors. I think one has to be careful about drawing those sorts of conclusions. I think the connection between public persona and private persona is much more nuanced than that.

In addition, many people in the entertainment industry are paid, and build their careers, on being outrageous in some way, shape, or form. So again, dressing provocatively, or behaving in a provocative manner becomes part of their public persona. It may, or may not tell us something about their private persona.

I don't know who wrote the songs, but Soft Cell, had some pretty racey stuff in the 80s punk scene.. Well ok, alot of punkers sure dressed it, but well, "Sex Dwarf"?

Then you had Depeche Mode with "Master and Servant".

Martin Gore, who wrote the lyrics to "Master and Servant" has denied being into BDSM, but I don't buy it. ;) Other songs have lyrics that allude to a D/s dynamic.

Sigh, Master and Servant is simply a song comparing work to S&M don't read more into it than there is.

And your close personal friend Martin Gore told you so? :D

He definitely dresses along kinky lines. When I saw them, he wore a leather skirt and had a pair of handcuffs hanging from the belt loop.

Edited to add:

Er, rather used to dress along kinky lines. ;)

Notwithstanding my previous comment, I do have this to say about Martin Gore and Depeche Mode. Many of DM's songs contain either blatant (e.g. Strangelove) or, often, more subtle (e.g. Blue Dress) references to BDSM. The songs that do not relate to BDSM are generally about drugs. And some of their songs are about both BDSM and drugs. If Martin Gore is not into BDSM personally, then he knows a lot about it. Much more than the average vanilla person would. He is most likely bisexual (from most things I have read about him), and his understanding of BDSM may come from having been part of the gay/bi scene in England during the 70s/80s. And one aspect of BDSM that he understands quite well is the addictive nature of particularly s&m.

Anyone who thinks otherwise - go through their song lyrics, and then also listen to the songs. BDSM themes and images unmistakably surface time and time again. (And the level of understanding about BDSM is far superior to that reflected in, for example, Rihanna's "S&M" - a song that is about BDSM in the most obvious, and simply sexual way - there is nothing nuanced about Rihanna's song - and I don't believe she even wrote it.)

Is Martin Gore into BDSM personally? I have no clue. But he understands some aspects of BDSM remarkably well. There are so many Depeche Mode songs that when I listen to, I think "he knows this world."

I think most people have a little kink in their step. I have seens many people that have a hard time admitting it when you throw the bdsm card.
Kink as in spankin and handcuffs. My guess is 75% did it or thinks about it.
BDSM I figure about 25%
BDSM has too many negative connotations that it is discriminating and degrading.

Just test it on friends, I did.

Spankin most say yes.
bdsm most say no.

Angelina Jolie is a bit overrated in beauty to me lately.
She was for a long time my favorite, but it tends to give beauty a one sided vision.
Ive heard a lotta people dont like black peoples looks. But I did catch them fantasizing about them.
Its sort of the same with big tits IMHO.

Last but not least I have seen a lot of dominant lookers that wanna be sub.

I know for a fact that Samuel L. Jackson likes pain. And speaking of Madonna, remember that Human Nature song she had? I thought Domme until I saw someone mention switch, I agree with the switch. Wasn't she with Sean Penn? No way he was submissive, so I'm guessing he ran that back in the day.

Eric Schaeffer admits himself of being into BDSM even made a BDSM related film (Fall and After Fall, Winter). Too bad he is a str8 sub.

I don't know who half of these people are, but Dali and Mozart being kinky is interesting.
Lux Interior of the Cramps was a sub to his Mistress, the bassist Poison Ivy. She was a pro-domme before forming the Cramps, and Lux was not shy about his kinks, wearing high heels on stage, collars and plenty more nods to their dynamic.
Songs such as 'Queen of Pain' and 'Save it' don't need much imagination either...

Definitely Christian Bale, after watching American Psycho haha.

Anthony Hopkins also strikes me as a dom.

Courtney Gains - Children of the Corn movies and whatnot - submissive and likes threesomes but also has a body odor problem and is frankly a prick on a personal level.

I would love to think that Ian Somerhalder ( The Vampire Diaries) is a Dom. Also, Leo DiCapprio, who is becoming much more attractive the older he gets for some reason.

I agree though with someone else. Just because a person is dominant in their everyday life doesn't mean they are probably Dom. I do adult parties for a living and I will tell you straight out that the main ppl who go to see a dominatrix to be punished, are cops and high powered execs. They need a release from all the power they maintain all day.

Hmm, if you talk to any pro-domme, the people who go and see them are not just cops and high powered execs (though they can possibly afford more frequent visits), your average plumber or builder just has the same fetishes and fantasies, the whole dressing up as "a release from all the power" is just macho BS to justify it to themselves, and I can assure you, high powered people or celebs usually don't attend public adult parties as it is too much of a risk, but sort of mid or lower level exes will and will pretend they are high powered and give the very same excuse of "release from holding power" because they still fall into the good old trap that it might be unmanly to have submissive desires...

As for kinky celebs - I give them the right to the same privacy I want for myself and people outing others should be shunned by the community!

Generally I'd agree but there are exceptions, for example when that person is actively speaking against things that they themselves are actually doing or, as in my case with Courtney Gains, when you know the guy personally and he's been a silly little shit.

Well, I never said that only these types go to pro-domme's. I said mainly, perhaps I should have said A LOT. Which is true. I'm trying to support to the other person who said was talking about not assuming that dominant type work people are also dominant in their private life. If that makes sense....

I don't think we're outing any celebs. Some have outed themselves. I am making a comment of some celebs I would love to see be into this lifestyle. LOL.

Yeah, it's ridiculous how pricey tickets for gigs can be now. Especially when you've got those awful ticket sites buying loads of tickets up and then selling them off for 20 times more than face value.

I've been lucky to get to see Korn and Disturbed for a reasonable price before all of these rip off sites started sprouting up all over the internerd...

David Draiman gives off that kinky vibe, but I'm not so sure about Jonathan Davies. Now Munky, on the otherhand...

At the Live8 concert in 2005, George Michael offered to spank one of the female presenters.
