Now 50 Shades of Grey will be coming out with a movie next year. I know everyone here on Collarchat is excited I've never read the book but constantly hear a lot about this story.

LOL I know. The part of me that is a troublemaker thinks of starting 50 shades threads but then I decide that I want to live. :)

LOL, even I won't start a 50 shades thread. 1, I never read the book, so I need to know what I'm talking about. 2.A thread like that on here probaly wouldn't get "rave reviews" like it may in other "vanilla" circles. I will say this only continues to move BDSM more into the mainstream, which may or may not be a good thing, depending on who your talking to.

I had the misfortune of reading them. I have this friend that kept on me to read them so I gave in. The first one was eh well it had a storyline. The second one was boring and the third one was painful, I only finished it because I paid for it. Blech.

And well as far as starting a thread it wouldn't be the first time I had people yelling that I will pay for that while I giggle. ;)

1 of the few good things about "50 Shades of Grey" is that when I have a curious "Vanilla" friend ask me about Fetish,I just ask say if they have read "50 Shades of Grey"? For example the other day, a Female friend what curious about me being a "submissive". She was asking in a curious,non-judgemental way,so I didn't mind. Sometimes though, its hard putting this into words. I asked her if she ever read "50 Shades of Gray"? All of a sudden she gets excited. Her "vanilla" friends told what a great book it is and she really wants to read it,lol. I just find it funny she doesn't know anything about the Fetish life but has heard about and eager to read "50 Shades of Gray".

The point I am trying to make is that clearly "50 Shades of Grey" is slowly making fetish more acceptable. If nothing else,at least it has accomplished that. I'm not saying its the best representation of BDSM but it gaining attention.

Well the first objection I had with the book was she wrote him as liking to beat submissive women do to his childhood. He picked women who looked like his dead mother who neglected him and allowed him to be abused. I know many in the lifestyle that were never abused as children while others were. I do not think childhood had anything to do with this lifestyle.

Second problem I had was the guy was a straight up asshole. When I was dating my husband if he got that pissed off at me because I went out for drinks with a friend I would have walked. Then after they were married and she got pregnant he had a fit and accused her of getting pregnant on purpose to trap him. He was a complete ass. There are so many times I saw in those books where I would have slapped him in the face before collecting my things and leaving.

Here is an interesting article on the effects "50 Shades of Grey" has had out on "Mainstream Society". http://goodtherapy.org/blogbdsm-50-shades-of-grey-0606124 I've yet to read the book because it doesn't honestly interest me. I am a Male Submissive into Female Domination. This story is more about Male Domination and Female Submission. That said, I have read some interesting Fem-Domme books before but none of them have ever received the kind of attention that "50 Shades of Grey" has attracted.

Not so sure it's making it more acceptable however...

I do see a lot of women taking a deeper look at themselves though, for the most part, that titillates then scares them back to their former paradigms.

But I agree it's given a wider discussion, even if it is with a nervous laugh

I heard from a Pro-Domme friend of my ex Domme that Ralph Fiennes is a pretty hardcore masochist.

Damn, I knew there was a reason why he's one of my favorite actors other than his superb acting skills. His bro Joseph is pretty sexy, too. ("Shakespeare in Love" has that pegging scene with Gwyneth Paltrow.)

My hands-down favorite is Jude Law--Come to Mama. . . . I would like to think these other INFP* males are/were all submissives: JFK, Jr., Johnny Depp, Heath Ledger, Nicolas Cage, Robert Pattinson. (I'm also fond of Leonardo di Caprio, but he isn't an INFP and doesn't strike me as subbish--not with that Scorpio stellium in his natal chart, which does nonetheless reveal an intensely passionate/possessive/obsessive-compulsive nature.)

While I'm fully aware actors portray characters which may not reflect upon their private lives, did anyone see Nic in "The Weatherman" having the sudden urge to shove his face in that lady's ass who was walking down the sidewalk in front of him? Was that Method Acting? Quite convincing . . . Just saying.

* Other Notable INFP males: Shakespeare himself, John Lennon, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, Andy Warhol, Vincent Van Gogh; poets Homer, Virgil, William Blake, John Milton (Paradise Lost); Rousseau, Edgar Allan Poe, George Orwell, J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis.

50 shades of Fan Fic, blech.

Lucy Liu 'outed herself" back in the 90's as loving some fesso-rama.

I doubt very much that Ellen and Portia have NOT engaged in stuff you'd see at the Blue lagoon in Santa Cruz on any given raunchy night.

Angelina Jolie and Pink! have my vote!

Angie was very open about her "interests" especially her knife fetish prior to meeting Brad... actually prior to Maddox. Once she became a parent she did a complete make over of her life.

Jolie co-starred with Clive Owen in a film called, "Beyond Borders." The film is about humanitarian aid for refugees of political violence/genocide. It was this experience that was the impetus for her life changes. Not the least of which was becoming the public face for the UNHRC.

It might be considered insensitive for a person of that position to be talking about the joy of knives and cutting. The fact she became less vocal on that point, I think, reflects her desire to not pollute the humanitarian message. However, to think that this is somehow indicative of her losing a kink? I've never met anyone who loses their kink.

As a previous poster stated, it's often the opposite of the obvious or superficial that is true. Doms tend to be uninspired and relatively unsuccessful in the workplace so they fill that need in personal relationships. It's the Alphas who have a need to gain relief through submission.

As for Angelina and Brad Pitt, I see a Daddy Dom / little girl relationship there. They both talked about a challenging time, early on in their relationship, when she would have screaming fits. He would simply leave until she got the message about what worked in his life, versus what didn't. He insisted on the behavior change and she learned.
