Oh chill dudes. I am so willing to bet that we women get far more terms tossed at us than you manly men get the occasional "Master" from a newbie.

Let's see..this week alone: Pet, lil girl, *gross* slut, babygirl *ick again* and little one. Not to mention the super original generic salutation of slave.

No need to worry, I won't be calling any random man Master or Sir. You can all breathe a sigh of relief.

You forgot "slurpable slutpuppy"!

ResidentSadist -> RE: Don't call me "Master" (3/2/2011 1:33:57 PM)

"saying "yes Master" ... is a bit presumptuous ... I understand ... a wish to show respect, but if I have never looked down at you with a fist full of your hair I am NOT your master!"

Is a doctor still a doctor if you are NOT their patient?
Is a Master* still a Master if he is NOT your mentor, owner, head of your house or you aren’t in service to him?

Is a doctor still a doctor after he retires and stops his practice?
Is a Master still a Master if he owns no slaves, has no 'house' and stops stops practicing or teaching the BDSM arts?

*–noun
1. a person with the ability or power to use, control, or dispose of something: a master of six languages; to be master of one's fate.
2. an owner of a slave, animal, etc.
3. an employer of workers or servants.
4. the male head of a household.
5. a person eminently skilled in something, as an occupation, art, or science: the great masters of the Impressionist period.
6. a person whose teachings others accept or follow: a Zen master.
8. a worker qualified to teach apprentices and to carry on a trade independently.
10. a person holding this title.
12. a victor or conqueror.
17. a boy or young man (used chiefly as a term of address).
Archaic . a work of art produced by a master.

Note: I have always felt my life and those I am guardian and guide to are a "work of art produced by a master"

NihilusZero -> RE: Don't call me "Master" (3/2/2011 1:40:08 PM)

The recommended alternate if a D-type tells you that you shouldn't call him "Master" is "snookims".

OK snookims, anything you say.

What made you think you have the right to call me snookims?
NihilusZero said that was proper etiquette.

Oh . . .  well . . . um, do you wanna' play doctor instead?  Call me doctor.

I had to call them "Doctor" all the time when I worked in the hospital... and they sure were not about to practice on me.

Many are still called "Doctor" out of respect.

Sorta the same argument here.

But, in all honesty, its a really simple issue to handle.

Merely use your Domly voices to patiently explain to us addle-minded females ~ note tongue in cheek there, ladies ~ that you dont wish to be addressed as such... then give a preference.

I dont do "Sir". Thats reserved for a special few.

I always was partial to the phrase... Honey Bunny.

leadership527 -> RE: Don't call me "Master" (3/3/2011 2:03:39 PM)

LOL IB. I was laughing just as hard. Great post RS.

As to the OP, I pretty much agree with everything Porcelaine said.

tiggerspoohbear -> RE: Don't call me "Master" (3/3/2011 2:06:14 PM)

I had one Dom who kept cmailing me and asking "how is this sub doing today?"  3rd time was the charm.  I told him I didn't know where this sub was, she seemed to be otherwise occupied, but would get back to him.  Haven't heard back from him since.

daintydimples -> RE: Don't call me "Master" (3/3/2011 2:10:27 PM)

Many subs/slaves are trained to a high protocol in using honorifics. This tends to happen more online than real life (or that is my observation). Although it is wonderful that a sub/slave should know protocol, in the initial stages of a relationship, it makes more sense to just ask someone how they wish to be addressed. The answer to that question can tell you A LOT.

As always, JMO and YMMV.

tazzygirl -> RE: Don't call me "Master" (3/3/2011 2:27:46 PM)

Oh, I got that one down pat.

Five seconds into a conversation, im calling him "Master"

2 seconds later, Im getting the speech that he isnt my Master.

maybe 3 seconds later... im calling him Bubba if he doesnt tell me what else to call him.

I adore Bubba. [:D]

IronBear -> RE: Don't call me "Master" (3/3/2011 3:07:10 PM)

As long tazzygirl lass, as you don't call me late for my nap or massage, food or a fuck, you can call me anything you like..  (I can't think of any nic, loving/affectionate nic or expletive that I haven't been called or referred to as at one time or another.

ResidentSadist -> RE: Don't call me "Master" (3/3/2011 4:45:49 PM)

OK, OK . . . I’ll answer the OP directly instead of asking questions or posting cute telephone conversation scripts.  I had to read the author’s profile to learn they are dominant, but not a Master and they don’t like term “Dom” either.  However, because it is OK to call him Master after he has “looked down at you with a fist full of your hair”, we can presume he likes M/s role play.  To rephrase the OP as I understand it:

He is a dominant and sometimes sadistic man that only likes being called Master during M/s role play.  It bothers him when people call him Master outside that framework.

There is a difference between leather lifestyle Masters and kinky M/s role play fans.  Leather lifestyle Masters are always a Master and it is never improper to address them as such.  I can understand how someone would feel uncomfortable being called Master if they weren’t.  It would be like a ship’s captain that likes medical kink and playing doctor.  He may not feel comfortable being called doctor instead of captain, especially by someone he hasn’t done medical play with.

Lifestyle Masters will probably answer that they are always comfortable with their titles.
The M/s role play fans may answer that the title is reserved for their role play partners.
The newcomers reading this will be lost in the sauce wondering “is you or ain’t you a Master and when the hell should I properly use the term?”

You can call me Master, you can call me Sir, but don’t call me snookims, no matter what NihilusZero tells you.

That means that people not in a dynamic with Me should only be calling Me "Mistress" if there is a qualifying name immediately following.  Mistress Pact works just fine or Mistress <insert real first name here> is ok, too, but just Mistress implies a dynamic that doesn't exist.

Yes, Mis-tress Janice Mis-tress. [:D][:D][:D]
