So February 1st I had acl reconstruction and meniscus repair surgery on my right knee. I have since been going through physical therapy and my own rehab in the gym.

I'm curious about a recovery timeframe. My doc and therapists are both hesitant to give me one, saying it's entirely dependent on how well I progress through the therapy.

Be that as it may, I'm still curious about other people's recovery time from similar knee surgery.

My other half had meniscus repair a few years back.  If you can be more specific about your questions, I'll be happy to relay them to him so we can provide some specific answers.

Well, was there a point when they were considered 'fully healed'? Or was it just a matter of 'hey, I got my mobility and range of motion back, I'm good.'

He considers himself fully healed.  However, it's not ever gotten back to where he was before the injury.

Let Me cut to the chase with you.  You're a fitness guy, right?  I can't sit here and promise you that you're going back to running or leg lifting the way that you used to.  You might, but you are a bit younger than My other half was when he had the surgery.  All of that is going to depend on how much you apply yourself during your physical therapy and how dedicated that you are to the process.

I know that right now this is probably driving you nuts.  Nothing like feeling you can't do the things that you always took for granted before.  Are you off of the crutches yet?  If not, you probably want to throw them across the room. [8D]

Those crutches lasted four days and I was done with them. As was the 'toe touch weight only' provision. Both were supposed to last six weeks. Oh well.

Mainly I'm looking for a ballpark estimate on when they were able to go back to work. This is the longest I've ever gone without working, and it's driving me crazy.

You're close if your surgery was Feb 1.  My other half works for Uncle Sam and they try to get them back into routine as quickly as possible.  Without complications, he was back in forty-five days.

If I remember right, your job is different than his.  You spend more time on your feet than he does and you have different considerations.  It could be worse.  You could live with another Dominant with a strong maternal instinct.  [;)]

Yeah, the state gov I work for won't let me back to work until I get a 'cleared to full duty' note from the doc. They're pretty content to pay me workman's comp while I spend it all at Barnes & Noble. But I just want to return to work.

The normal time frame is typically 6 - 8 weeks post-op. I had a similiar surgery... my disk was torn... and my ACL was torn halfway. Surgery the beginning of May... return to work mid July.
