LaTigresse -> RE: Internet bullying. (3/12/2011 5:54:20 AM)

Again thank you all for your replies. I was curious how others saw the issue. I don't really have any clear lines, it's more of a case by case.

Except for Facebook which is mostly family, I do not really participate in any group, internet, interaction except here, anymore. Many years ago, I used to visit the chat rooms on AFF........but that is definitely long past. Before it turned into one big boring typed fantasy orgy. I enjoy intelligent and witty conversation. I also enjoy getting to know people with vastly diverse lives, backgrounds, cultures, etc...... My daily life is fairly restricted in that regard. I often have free time during my day, in which I can log in, read a little, perhaps add my own thoughts, and get something to think about as I go back to some mindless task, or as is often the case, while I am driving to and from.

The bullying stuff I have seen elsewhere, but because this is my primary internet reaction, of course I was thinking of here.........but not exclusively. I don't think my views are going to change but I do occasionally have to remind myself that not everyone is mentally/emotionally strong. We've even had a few threads on the subject and see the various illnesses/issues some of our members deal with on a daily basis. I am sure if I had to deal with the mental health stuff I've read about here, I would not always take some of the words typed here, as easily, or with the relaxed manner, that I do.

All of that said......I still believe one of the OP's I read this morning was being a pathetic, whiny, little bitch![:D]

I generally find that what you project onto a message board through what you post, especially here, comes back to you.

I went off on a tangent in my previous posting here (I'm still kind of shocked to discover that I've become somewhat more verbose than Termy) and very little was about what happens here. I just wanted to point that out and that I wasn't making any specific reference about anyone here in what I wrote.

I also wanted to pay homage to Moderator 11 and her sometimes controversial, but usually effective ways of making sure things didn't get too out of hand here.

Nice to see a post from NorthernGent!  Hope you've been well!!

Hello Greedy, yeah, I'm still around posting shite on a message board...can't keep a good man determined to post shite on a message board down.....not sure if that's a sign that I'm well or not so well...but I fell decent enough.

Sorry, but I don't miss her. I much prefer our current batch of Mods...they do their job with a great sense of humour and give us a lot of leeway.

A smack on the ass to all our Mods...I think they are great!

In general, I tend to choose my words wisely (or bypass threads altogether) on moderated internet forums. Especially on this one since the mods seem to have certain biases. Oddly enough, in forums (particularly unmoderated ones) on the internet where I post with my own name I tend to be much more open and honest about my thoughts. I try not to be nasty just for the sake of being nasty but if I am having a bad day and someone says the wrong thing I can type a reply that is pretty caustic.
