... but has anyone ever noticed that, by and large, the switch forum is more laid back than the other forums in this community section?  Even general doesn't have quite as much grab-ass going on as there is in here...

Just kind of struck me as amusing...  just wonder WHY we're apparently so laid back...

Because, unlike many "pure" dominants and submissives, switches know there is no "One size fits all" set of rules for BDSM.  Hence, much less pontification and a more relaxed attitude.

You do know you can edit a post after you've posted it, right?

I've never met a fanatical, absolutist switch.  We aren't all hung up on our labels.  I'd be willing to bet a few dollars that those Dominant types who attack so savagely have some submissive urges they'll deny to their last breath.

As Shakespeare said so well, "Methinks they do protest too much."

Hmmm. . .  not a lot of grab-ass lately. . . I think that we need another slut-pile . . .

Cuz we rock!

I am first. . . does anyone want to join me?

De Nile is not just a river in Egypt.

Not phobic per say. . . likely just in the closet.  Or afraid to let their precious gaurd and emotional/mental armour down.  It is really just very sad.  Or they are posturing, flagrant chest beating, not in touch with themselves, suffering from low self-esteem, and insecure about their manhood, idiots.

Hmmm. . . I need to work on that, as I do not like the way it scans. . . but I think that ya all get the idea.

Best,

LaMalinche

I'm new here (this is my first post) but I will chime in here. I agree with other posters that switches are more laid back, less worried about our place in the scene. If you only have one role, you're really competing with everyone else in that same role. If you're open, you can just play all angles. Also, I think I've gotten far more dates from the local scene than anyone, perhaps because I don't take my role so seriously and people thus open up to me more easily.

em25 -> RE: Prolly been mentioned before... (5/7/2006 7:04:27 AM)

I only recently signed up to collarme, but I've been active offline and on various other sites for a few years now, and I usually find switches to be far more thoughtful and accepting of others' approaches and opinions than doms. I'm obviously not going to say that's universally true, I've met some surprisingly narrow minded switches and some wonderfully considerate doms, but it's what I usually find to be the case.

I always search for switches first, for example, because I know from past experience that switches are more likely to recognise that any form of relationship, both the sexual side of it and the friendship, should be built from scratch to accommodate the individual people involved. A lot of doms come into it with a ready-made mould they expect you to fill.

Those overall attitudes carry over into the way people interact on message boards on sites like this. Switches generally seem to want to discuss how things work for others and see if anything they hadn't thought about could benefit them, or if they have something relevant that might assist someone else, whereas doms mostly seem to want to sit and define the right way to do it.

I have nothing to offer on how subs usually compare, because I don't want to shag them and I'm shallow, so I don't generally associate with other subs very much. I'm aware that this shallowness is bad.

I accept that I could be completely wrong, of course!

In the closet? Do they get cable in there?? Hmmm...

But at any rate... I remember being like that... feeling you have to stand there like a pillar of granite and be the strength, regardless of the cost... like to think that I've gotten most of this nasty habit out of my system, though I still do it from time to time... but better time to time than all the freaking time, I suppose... LOL

Dustyn -> RE: Prolly been mentioned before... (5/7/2006 10:07:22 AM)

Yeah, I was a dom with a switch personality for years... granted, that was how I was taught to act and think, so it was natural to do it... but the longer it went, the more complications it brought about until, finally, a switch brought about enough questions about myself that it all fell apart... now I'm just me, and for simplicity sakes I term myself a switch... but I do understand why doms do the things they do... just can't bring myself to do those kind of things anymore...

*shrug*

But don't sweat being wrong... since it's just yer opinion, in the end, it's only right or wrong for you... =)
