For College students throughout the nation Spring Break is upon us. At my college it begins at the end of this week. For roughly the past 40 years, I never understood why college kids go nuts during spring break. Having now spent only half of my first semester in college, I can fully understand and appreciate why they do it. I have no intentions of going somewhere to party like they do though (those days are far behind me). I do however plan to simply unwind and enjoy not having to do any homework for a week. What I now understand about this annual occurance is the stress level that is endured by the students and the demands put upon them by the faculty. I realize it's all for the best in the long run though. In an earlier post not long after school had started for me, I reported that I was overwhelmed with massive amounts of homework. I am happy to say that it has leveled out some, and I have found ways to deal with it and keep it balanced. I wondered if I would make it this far. At the same time I have also seen many of my younger counterparts collapse under the demands. Some have taken withdrawals from some classes and some have just dropped out. I am also quite pleased to say that (at least so far) I have 4 A's and 1 B and I will pick up one more class when I return from break after next week, but that is a class that I am confident I will do well in.
