We’ve had a lot of threads about the best music out there but what about the other end of the scale. What are the worst songs? I mean the very worst… the kind that makes you slap your hands over your ears and cringe. The kind that makes you want to pick up a .45 Magnum and blow a hole in the radio and then blow a hole into the evil lowlifes who are responsible for foisting such travesty on the listening public.

My first pick is this monstrosity. I’ve nothing against sentimentality (it the right hands, like Pink Floyd, it can stir the depths of feeling) but this shit is so sickenly sweet that it causes instant diabetes.

Any version of this song. I think it was written specifically so that lame people would have something to dance to.

So, what music out there is so God awful that it would be a violation of the Geneva Convention to force anyone to listen to it?

I hadn't realized how much I dislike James Taylor. Then my pressman decided that today was James Taylor day.

Now I know I totally fucking HATE James Taylor.

more importantly, it hurts MY ears. that should never happen.

while i have heard some hip-hop i like, i differentiate between hip-hop and rap -- rap i generally CAN'T STAND.

cant stand techno and the tv music which brings my hand always rappidily to the remote control is the song to the simpsons...gosh would I wish they wouldn't be on TV in the first place....I am really sort of allergic to it...most of the time I manage to avoid it on time but sometime it does catch me [:'(][:'(][:'(] I feel the same about southpark or whatever it is called, thankfully thats not on here at present...[:)]

cant stand fugeez either (or whatever their name was) the ones who sing killing me softly...I hated the fact that my driving instructor loved that song...should have charged me only half the fee when that crap was on [:'(]

Not available in my country due to copyright retrictions. Usually that frustrates the hell outta me but in this case I will take your word and assume that, sometimes, copyright restrictions are my friend.

Country isn't that bad, and explains why we have the blues and why the blues songs are often about depressing topics.

I admit that I like a bit of R&B, but that bit doesn't go anywhere near Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey who I would soooo love to see wearing a ballgag .. permanently. Same goes for Amy Whinearse..

To me there's much worse.. there's techno (people creating boring music by computer) trance (people trying to create techno but still learning the software) and garage (people trying to create techno with no knowledge of computers).

There's also Britpop, and people who are.. thankfully not not around anymore, such as Right Said Fred, Bros, EMF, KLF, Sinitta, the Spice Girls, and Europop, which brought us such 'delights' as Ace of Base, Roxette, among others.

But nothing is quite as effective in turning me into a psychotic, anti-social loonie as quickly or effectively as Crazy Frog.

I know that, I was being facetious.. I also know that if it wasn't for that struggles and the blues much of the music we love simply wouldn't exist. The tragic loss of life during Katrina was one thing, but it also destroyed a piece of American culture and heritage which is a loss not only felt by Americans but the rest of the world.
