Jon Stewart: you don't even think enough of us to lie to us

I'll have the dvr set on Monday, as President Obama takes his travelling lecture circuit to the National War College. Generally, sending US forces into a new conflict is worth an immediate Oval Office address, but apparently, not in this case. I hope he does a better job than when went he went to West Point to announce his surge in Afghanistan, and decided a word like "victory" would be out of place.

The National War College is an interesting choice of location. The so-called "Powell Doctrine" got tossed in this mess. Is he going there to explain what all the new rules they are to study are? Bringing next year's syllabus, perhaps? I doubt he'll go so far as to rename the place, 'the National Peace College.'

I think he’s trying to keep a low US profile in terms of the US taking military action against another Muslim country. Americans and most people around the world are tired of war. On the other hand virtually no one likes Moammar Qaddafi and Qaddafi massacring his own people is unacceptable. I expect the British and French and Canada to take a leadership role in this matter. In fact, I believe a Canadian general is in charge of NATO forces involved there now.

"Americans and most people around the world are tired of war."

But we must "help" them.

Since the President is taking time for things to "clarify" before taking the podium, perhaps he'll be able to address the pesky little questions that will pop up between now and then.

Heretic, is that monday night?
Do me a favor?
Just in case I miss it count the number of times he uses the phrase, "human rights."
When this first started I was watching CNN, FOX, ABC, NBC and one or two others and they didn't use the term "human rights" one time. Not once!
They were however using the terms "uprising" "people's rebellion", "depose", "coup", "opposition" and a few others in that vein.
And of course Hillary Clinton was all over the board!

There might be a drinking game for the college kids, Popeye.

If he is planning to declare some new doctrine on use of force, he'll have one hell of a tap-dancing job for his speech writers, to explain why this is our business.

I'm sure his great respect for the services, and the customs and traditions that come with his job as CIC will guide him wisely.

I have a request...if that is okay?
Seeing how what the President says hardly matters to a significant segment of CM's right leaning posters.....could we,in the interests of brevity get some of the expected criticisms out of the way.
In other words...why not have sanity, trucken, racistjim, popeye and willbe,to name a few(if I have neglected your name,no insult intended just jump in) stop by today and rip the President and his decision making proccess.
This could help to streamline the whole exercise...and allow for a more relaxed Monday evening

We could get some of the expected Liberal support for his policies out of the way prior to Monday as well mike, and you could begin immediately with loud raucous chants of FOUR MORE WARS! FOUR MORE WARS! FOUR MORE WARS! in support of his reelection bid

Sort of the same thing you do with the right wing talking heads?
In light of that  perhaps you should hold your submissions till after those guys tell you what to think !

Conservative Mike, do you think he'll mention anything about the "human rights" of Yeman and Syria?
That'd be two more wars! Two down, two to go!
They say that China is the biggest breaker of "human rights" on the planet! Are they gonna catch hell too?

Heretic, Obama hasn't given his speech yet but I'll bet the "reviews" have already been written.
"Best speech since the Gettysburg Adress!"
Then 30 days later they can't remember what he said.

In the end, no amount of American forces can solve the political differences that lie at the heart of somebody else's civil war." BARACK OBAMA, speech, Jan. 19, 2007Reply..

Wouldn't it be nice if he remembered what he said in 2007.

Ummm.... the problem with bringing up "the other guy" is that in the United States, it really is moot.

President Obama is THE Guy.

This is his show

Terrible speech, what a lame brain. "International community?" I though I was watching "Joe Subaru."
Who cuts his check?
