Not that I know of. I asked my doctor a while back, and I was told as long as you are 'safe' about it and do you monthly self breast examinations, and get regular checkups, you should be fine. Family history has more weight than breast torture and play.

I can't answer that...but your question is exactly why I dont like breast play and find it really difficult to enjoy it....do whatever you want to other parts of my body..but leave my damn breasts alone! I can't tell you the emotions I experienced when Master had my nipples pierced.

I've not thought of breast cancer with breast play and torure... i've often worried about loss of sensation in nipples... specially for ones who love nipple clamps.... hmmmm.... guess it's time to go bother google again... LOL

I worried about loss of sensation as well, and with good reason. My ex used clamps on me. but didnt heed my safeword after i couldn't feel anything, I was tied, so I couldn't remove them myself. I still have limited sensation, and that relationship is very much over. It hurt that he would do that, especially after a 2 year relationship.

i Googled... according to Johns Hopkins, there are no studies on the long term effects of "breast binding or flogging"... for what THAT'S worth.  We should start a study- volunteers?  Anyone?  Government grant, here i come!  =P

Well, a gal pal of mine... a doctor into BDSM (submissive, VERY edgy) was kicked by one of her horses.  However, because of how hard she played earlier the same day, she's not sure WHAT caused it, but she apparently ripped some vein inside and got quite a bit of internal bleeding (bruising, yeah).  Unfortunately, enough that it also absessed.  She was quite a mess, there for awhile; needed drainage tubes, etc.  The idea of really heavy hitting on breasts bothers me...

I have fibrocystic disease (very common, benign, ropey fiber within the breast tissue).  While causing no 'serious' issues, it can cause my breasts to be more sensitive to pain sometimes...and just plain ol' squicks me if getting very heavy play.  It just can't be good...

limiting your caffiene input might help with the tenderness of FCB [fibrocystic breasts]   The caffiene stimulates the tissue, espcially with the menstrual cycle, so the breasts can be much more sensitive.  Usually  this lessens with age as the denser tissue is replaced with fatty tissue.

Binding, cropping, even caning the breasts can be done safely.  Heavy bruising of the breasts can lead to other conditions such as abscess [when there is a lot of bleeding the are might get infected if it doesn't drain properly] or calcifications can form after the brusing has healed.  Calcifications can be cancerous so when seen on a mammogram most times you would have extra views taken to help diagnose.    Clamping the nipples to the point that you loose sensation is never a good thing.  Nipple clamps should only be left on for 5 mins or so...depending on the grip of the clamp of course.   You can also damage the skin with clothespins.   Never be afraid to tell the technologist who does your mammogram about your nipple rings, or the bruising that you have.  They've seen it all usually.

I am copying from a site I use for patient education. It addresses injury to the breast, which for the purpose of this thread is relavent. In general *injury* or *trauma* would have much greater impact than breast play.

Myth:
An Injury to the Breast Causes Cancer.

Fact:

Injury or trauma to the breast does not cause breast cancer. However, the breast may become bruised or develop a benign (non-cancerous) lump as the result of an injury. Fat necrosis is a rare benign breast condition that occurs when fatty breast tissue swells or becomes tender. When the body attempts to repair the damaged breast tissue, the affected area may sometimes be replaced with firm scar tissue. Fat necrosis may be mistaken as cancer on mammogram; however symptoms of fat necrosis usually subside within a month

that is what I was trying to say....but mind was too fogged to get it out.  fat necrosis looks like little specks of calcifications either in one area of the breast or all over.   Radiologists have to deteremine if calcifications could be cancerous and sometimes you just need a biopsy to make sure.  Not everyone will get fat necrosis from strong breast play, but it's something to keep in mind to tell your doctor if something does show up on a mammogram.
