stellauk -> When the screen on a touch screen cellphone doesn't work (3/31/2011 1:51:08 AM)

Two days ago the screen on my HTC smartphone stopped working. I admit that I have been keeping the phone in bags and pockets without any covering because I didn't think it would affect it.

Seems I am wrong. I have checked online and have tried the trick of running a fingernail round the edge of the screen but the screen still doesn't work - well only if I touch a small area near the bottom left hand corner but this doesn't change the fact that it doesn't do anything with the screen lock.

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar problem with a touch screen phone and found a solution.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The same thing happened to me, but my "solution" was that it was still under warranty and the store exchanged it on the spot, no questions asked, and even loaded all my numbers and photos into it for me.

Personally, I hate touchscreens, and plan to go back to a cheaper push-button phone when this contract is up.

I actually went to the store today as mine had the habbit to allow me to dial my phone number from a phone card to call in Germany (I have a regular number from the internet, way easier than getting a card from the store and then waiting to put the pin in and then waiting to put in my home number, as with this one I just dial their number and then my home number...no fucking code needed)...now my problem was that I could dial that service number...but the screen always remained black when I asked for the touch pad to appear to let my dial my home number....that means I regular ended up to just call straight at home which costs of course a way bit more.

So today I passed their store and he showed me that i have to press the unlock button on the side to get it back into a working state and then yes, then I am able to type in my next number....fucking sake, why does it go into locked state in the first place [8|]

But that did the trick in my case, though I do realise that your issue is different...[&o]

I think maybe you might just have to take it into a store and see what they can do for you.
