Wondering if anyone can help me- When I was with an ex we set up an account as a couple- I've tried on several occasions to close down the account by the steps listed but it just won't go away despite saying the account is closed- I can clear text etc. but the username was one that was chosen ill-advisedly and is linked to other stuff we used to have together. Heard a few people talking about collarme accounts that don't seem to be able to be closed - does anyone know how to fix this?

thanks in advance

that's not a problem, this is a common issue with the site.  I closed my account, stayed away for a over a week and it did not close, so I kept it open, didn't feel like fighting it.

Yeah, most accounts you can close by just not paying.

I understand about being linked, because I am. But fuck it, I only live once. What is some person who disagrees with me here going to do ? Travel here, shoot me or something and expect to get away with it in my home town ? Take a fuckin crack at it.

But other people, who knows. So really one should be careful in the beginning. I am stuck with my name for better or worse. Just how much anonymity do you want ?

Send a letter to Support on the other side, from the account you want to close.  The Support button is at the bottom of every page on the other side.

"What is the nick you are trying to close?"

Not me. I was just saying why bother ? If there's no activity there should be no bandwidth or anything.

Or maybr it is better to close one out when things change alot. But I see plenty of options like "not looking" and all that, you can redo a profile right ? Should make it unnecessary.

Just don't log into it in that case maybe. Unless it clogs up the system, with like unread mails, I see no reason to close an account. If it causes problems with the site maybe after so long old accounts should be deleted. But it's pretty much all text probably, so what can happen ?

I had a couple of cool email names I deleted. I found out later it was alot harder to get them back.

Maybe I spoke too soon because I see no reason to change a nick. The only possibility is if I thought up a way cooler one. Not much chance of that. Even if it happened I couldn't go and delete Termy. The ramifications would be ummmm,,,,,,,

"lots of weird things happening with my account. :(  "

Maybe I missed something then, sorry. Weird things are usually not good.

Thanks for the feedback - I tried sending a message to support a few weeks back but to no avail- Though guess everyone must be quite busy if this is commonplace. You make some good points, Termyn8or - I guess just being careful in the beginning as to what names you use / info you share is the key.

I've given up on getting the other account closed - Now my aim is to sort out why no-one can view my full profile ... oh happy days.

Actually if you can edit the old profile you could make some interesting changes. You are in Nigeria, and can't get to your family's fortune because of some government thing which will cost money to fix. Also mention a relative who needs constsant expensive medical treatments of some kind.

That and the "proper" selection of pictures and preferences should do it. As for the new profile, I dunno. Strange things happen the the forum software sometimes and it could be a glitch. For example sending a Cmail sometimes it sends it blank. Then it works again the next day or so. They're probably doing some updating or something.

ETA, I just looked and it looks like you have no profile. What do you get when you go to "Edit Profile" ? If it comes back blank, maybe you didn't hit "Save Changes".

That would be embarrassing if that was all it was- it was kind of weird, I could see my profile, but everyone else stopped being able to see it a couple of months ago. I've tried editing and resaving it, but I can't tell if other people can see it, obviously.

I appreciate your advice though and in checking it out.

As I said, send a letter to Support FROM the account you want closed.

Thank you, I've been reading in lower case for some time  -  The message I sent some weeks ago was from the account I wanted closed.

Though now I think I'm quite happy just to let that be- The bigger fish to fry is to why no one can see this profile. I have also sent a mail to support about this... from this account
