Thanks, just when I thought at the age of 24 that I'd never find the guy for me I met him 4 years ago in the October!

I really hope it goes well but blokes have been known to string girls along once in a while,why is there this delay in proposing? It's not like you only just met after all. Why can't he pop the question now rather than in 6 months?

I'm writing this in reply to Hardcybermastersanswer.
The reason we're waiting till next year is because hesaid to me before that he wants to have saved up a good bit of money to buy me the perfect engagement ring.
I'm sure other women will agree with me I say you can't really propose as a guy if you don't have an engagement ring to offer her right people?

well I thought love was about love not about how much the ring cost but that's just me I guess....just don't get me started on weddings that cost tens of thousands if not more

I'm definitely a woman, couldn't care less about the ring, in fact my other half proposed to me with one of my own rings, spur of the moment... I'm not too much into rings anyway and why blowing so much money on something that doesn't really give you anything? I never could understand big wedding blow outs, people spending so much money on one day, stress themselves silly over everything being perfect, can't enjoy it at all and easily blow the down payment on a house on a wedding, then pay the debt back for years after the divorce. Nothing wrong if somebody wants the fairytale wedding with the dress that looks like you should be standing on top of a cake and that will only be worn once, just wouldn't work for me.

Unless the ring is really important, sod the ring and he can always give you a bigger one when you can both afford it.

I totally agree. If I got married again, the most important thing for me would be that we both enjoyed celebrating the start of our married life together. I met my wonderful man through this site, and at that point I had resigned myself to being single the rest of my life, as I was 39 by that time, so it was just great that I finally found the perfect man for me. I do love a happy ending, and it looks to me like this is another one, regardless what the pessimists might say... Congratulations and best wishes for the future. :)
