Whew. Finally got done uploading the pics, took a while. But hey, got rid of my ice cream cone.....
The bungy beater is definitely thuddy.....painfully so. It's very heavy cord, think it's 5/8" or so, and it will definitely raise a mark. Just testing on my calf left a bruise.
The bars are some of my favorite work. The black bar is made from an adjustable tent pole, the kind where you push in the little button and slide it to the hole in the adjoining pipe to get the length you want. I didn't think it would hold at first, but damn if I could get it to slip.
The two silver ones are heavy camera tripod legs. I picked up the tripod at a garage sale cheap because the camera mount plate was cracked, and some expansion nuts (also called well nuts) and eye bolts later I've got two complete bars and I'm going to cut the last one down for a shorter bar. Much more sturdy than the wood dowel and adjustable to boot. It's getting harder to find the old-style tent poles though, and most tripods are multi-segmented now and don't lend themselves to the purpose. But tubular steel and aluminum are available at most lumberyards, along with the expansion nuts and eye bolts, for non-adjustable bars. I just think the wooden ones are too flimsy.
