We're poly, neither of us is "fixed" and it's none of your business what sort of birth control methods, if any, we use.

In ANY relationship the people involved, however many there are, should decide on any birth control issues.

Greetings,

i haven't reached menopause and conception is a real possibility for me. However, i believe the subject is one both parties should broach maturely if pregnancy is not the goal. Although i don't engage in poly relationships, i'd be very unhappy if my partner suggested sterilization as the ideal 'fix'. i'm not predisposed to any diseases that would affect those organs and enduring an operation that i couldn't mentally justify would be very disconcerting.

Namaste,

~porcelaine

Being ugly as sin has always been an effective means of BC for me.

What do D&D players use for birth control? Their personalities

As to the OP, yes and no: I don't but she does, but if there were men involved in our relationship then I hope Hanners would chose to put me on some form of it. I disagree that it is a matter for discussion between the partners. It's her choice. If she wants me to get pregnant <God I hope not! Pleezopleezopleez no>, then knocked up I shall be.

(fast reply)

I've been 'fixed' since I was in my 20's. I knew early on I didn't want any kids.

As for other folks, ... I agree that it is up to those parties involved, however, I do have an opinion on that. I believe that if no one is interested in children and all things being equal, the man should have his bits 'fixed'. My reasoning is that the procedure is less invasive for a man than a woman. There are fewer health risks to a man being 'snipped' than there are to a woman being 'clipped' or 'tied'.

Ditto. It only becomes someone else's business if and when it affects them (i.e. they join our relationship and/or household). I have discussed my BCP use on other threads, but honestly, birth control is only about 1/2 of why I take it.

If he doesn't want children, then he should get a vasectomy. But everyone should be responsible for their own birth control. And depending on whether this is a closed poly or one where the guy gets to troll for new pussy whenever he wants, I might recommend that he have to use condoms. Because birth control doesn't address std transmission.

Outside a committed monogamous relationship, I use condoms. My husband and I used the rhythm method successfully for 15 years. (Don't try this unless you know what you're doing.) I see no reason other than personal preference to get "fixed."

I never posed any risk to getting my spouse pregnant (one might need sperm for that...) but we always used condoms and gloves, all the time, every time.  Not for birth control, but for safer sex.  Birth control is just one "side effect"/risk of intercourse. STD clinics can attest to some of the other undesirable ones.
