This has been discussed so many times and very good threads. Why don't you do a search on 'difference slave submissive"

but IMO and brief- a submissive is someone who enjoys being erotically passive & a slave is one who is submissive and devotes their life to me.

Dear Mistress,
Thank you for taking time to reply. I will do some research as you suggested. From your description I may be more slave than submissive. It is something that I would need to think about more. I do want to dedicate my life and serve a mistress, but I feel that I have some emotional needs to be met in return for my devotion. I am thinking more of a relationship between a Mistress and slave if that could be possible. Does a slave have to give up their emotions and be more like a robot? Does a slave simply serve a mistress and get his/her needs met just from the act of serving?

Submissively Yours,
nikki ann

Nikki,
Please do your research, don't stop asking questions, and reading everything you can get your hands on dear.
A slave when collared & or under contract & depending on what is agreed upon to start can become the property of the Domme.
While a sub, is that a sub. Not to say the relationship is  any less, just the sub isnt owned by anyone.
Geesh much harder then I thought to try to explain the difference to you, my advice would be still to learn all you can, and to be a sub  get  some experience under your belt.  When you learn in your mind what the difference is then you will know, if you want to be a sub or a slave.
A sub can show just as much respect and devotion as a slave.

Dear NikkiAnn, Ladies and Gentlemen;

I came up through the times where it was only a Master/Mistress-slave title and roles.  To which a slave in training would be similar to what is considered as submissive today, as they were learning about themselves and really were not sure if this was for them, as well as their own phobias, fears of things and learning how to serve so dramaticly different.  That "slave in training' phase was where discovery and the learning stage and once ready; went into slave status.

Additionally, dominance and submission was a state of being in my day, not a role.  As things have changed, titles were needed for the newer generation coming through the journey; to which Dominant/submissive seemingly was created and caught on.

But, I like to think of being submissive, is where one submits many times, still democratic enough to hold the Dominant to boundaries, limits and the like.  Whereas, slave submits once.  By that time, they've found their limits, boundaries and have hit their peak; so they are able to submit to the Master/Mistress their total being, when they are given boundaries, limits and understand what is required before the beg/request a collar, having experienced it in the submissive/slave training phase, they make a one time act of submission, through the conditional submission to the unconditional submission.

Respectfully submitted,
Lady Hugs

{looks for a place to hide} This is gonna get ugly.

NikkiAnn, run a search, it will save a lot of headaches. You can just do what most people do, they define each [submissive or slave] by dictionary definition or as their relationship dictates.

Slaves for the most part derive pleasure form pleasing their Master/Mistress, while submissives get pleasure from their Dominant, not in serving. Slaves serve and are kept to a higher 'standard' and protocol, where submissives may have a bit for leyway and less structured.

A slave will be
under my lock and key
and forced to obey and please just ME!   smiles Kevin

A submissive will be under my control, but free to say "No!" without long term ramifications.
