TheHeretic -> Fracking the Demographics (5/5/2011 6:28:02 PM)

Those who want, and even desperately need, to see the political realm strictly in terms of us/them, red/blue, evil-con/libtard, aren't going to like this very much. Good.

Pew Research Center has released a finer breakdown on who makes up the US electorate. There are 9 categories, mostly ranging from Staunch Conservatives to Solid Liberals, plus a useless bunch they call Bystanders

Beyond Red vs. Blue: The Political Typology
This link will take you to the page containg the type desriptions and makeup, and you can jump right in to the question and conversation from there.

There is a fair bit to the piece, and lots of meat for the real political junkies

What I'm curious to know is where people think they would be classified by the researchers. Even though I identify differently, my attitudes put me pretty squarely in the "libertarian" type, as they define things. Now I know this is a tough request for this website, but try not to pay too much attentions to the labels they assign, and share with us where their system would place you. [;)]

Solid Liberal, and I fit most of the demographics of this group... graduate school, female, live in the West...

Hillwilliam -> RE: Fracking the Demographics (5/5/2011 7:02:49 PM)

WTF is a post modern?

It seems to be Me.

They do have some interesting names for the groupings, huh, Hill? Back in the 1987 breakdown, the Dems had both the Partisan Poor and the Passive Poor in their column.

What about dirt-poor Republicans? This part of the country is well populated with them.

hlen5 -> RE: Fracking the Demographics (5/5/2011 7:53:23 PM)

I'm a Post-Modern, I would have thought I was more of a Libertarian.

The Quiz has me as a libertarian as well.

Fair enough.

Sure groupings are useful, but simplistic at times.

Yet another Libertarian... although changing one answer, which I did just to see what would happen, made me Disaffected, lol.

tweakabelle -> RE: Fracking the Demographics (5/5/2011 10:12:47 PM)

I'm so disappointed!

It called me a Solid Liberal when I so wanted to be a Post Modern (which strictly speaking, is more philosophically in tune with me).

How do I get my money back? [:D]

NewOCDaddy -> RE: Fracking the Demographics (5/5/2011 11:26:31 PM)

Libertarian, as expected given the level and sparse number of questions, but in actuality Im closer to Main Street Republican than the usual definition of Libertarian.

I bounce between those two as well, since they came closer than any other grouped to describing my views.

I guess that just means that, as I claim, I am truly "middle of the road," as many groupings had one or more things I agreed with, but many more that I did not.

subrob1967 -> RE: Fracking the Demographics (5/6/2011 12:29:09 AM)

Based on your responses, YOU are a…   Libertarian Along with 9% of the public

joether -> RE: Fracking the Demographics (5/6/2011 12:35:47 AM)

Solid Liberal

I was hoping to not get 'bleeding heart' liberal or Bystander. In truth, there's less questions here then on the old 'purity' tests when the internet was still in diapers. Which is to say, there is a lot being said without very many facts being presented. For instance, according to the information, 67% of solid liberals disagree with the Tea Party. But yet, there is no mention in the questionaire of one's agreement or disagreement with the Tea Party. And just for the record, I dont eat organic food.....

....I eat twinkies every once in a while....

...there organic......right? right?

(listens to crickets while watching a tumble weed roll past)

SexyBossyBBW -> RE: Fracking the Demographics (5/6/2011 1:01:01 AM)

I'm a Hard Pressed Democrat, which sounds perfectly like me, though the description is, thank God, not exactly moi. [:D] M

flcouple2009 -> RE: Fracking the Demographics (5/6/2011 5:28:07 AM)

The questions seem a little extreme.

Blacks are shiftless lazy fucks OR just completely discriminated against.
Monitor the chemical output of every living creature OR wild west who cares dump chemical waste in the school yard

thishereboi -> RE: Fracking the Demographics (5/6/2011 6:12:48 AM)

Wow, I am dissaffected. Maybe I should go lie down for a bit[8|] that doesn't sound good.

I have to agree with Flcouple2009 though, the questions were extreme.

Yeah, I didn't care for the wording on the enviromental issues questions myself, but you take the one that was closest to where you find yourself. I notice you were still able to complete the quiz, instead of just chiming in to whine, without addressing the question.

Thanks.

Sanity -> RE: Fracking the Demographics (5/6/2011 7:13:09 AM)

Yeah... I took the quiz.

Take a guess where that one put me and youll probably be right, so long as you stick to the options offered... (I know what some of you fuckers would say). [:D]

I feel I am more of a libertarian than that, though.

Count me in with those who feel the test is too black and white...

flcouple2009 -> RE: Fracking the Demographics (5/6/2011 7:17:31 AM)

I guess I'll just have to whine.

I can't answer several of the questions.  My answer would be squarely in the middle of the extremes they used.
