An interesting website dealing with vexing international issues, but for the sake of this thread;

Why Dislike the UK ?

Out of curiosity, why would they like us? I'd imagine the business of family and friends is far more pressing than an opinion of a country thousands of miles away.

Sadly I am off to the airport in five hours and still have a heck of a lot to do until then...I skimmed through that article and what I have seen about it so far I enjoyed

I aim to print it and read it on the bus to the airport (at least if I get that damn thing running, which I need to get done as I still need to print my ticket, too )

Anyhow, I might get back to it in the next days, as quite frankly, it would be way too many reasons to say from my side to cut it short

*ducks* don't worry....I am going

Is it mandatory we hate the UK?
Everyone I have ever met from any part of the UK have been pretty wonderful people. I have no qualms with their politics because, aside from knowing who their Prime Minister, I have little in the way of a clue as to what is happening there.
I have no interest in their domestic issues, could care less about the Royals, although somebody over here does, look at the numbers that watched the wedding. With the settling of the Northern Ireland issues(I think it is settled ok, correct me if I am wrong?) they seem to be a fairly happy lot. I know, I can hate them because I think Bangers and Mash is a an awfully boring dish to be known for!
That's it! I hate them, all of them! Damn British!....

They quite make up for it with their beer and ales.

Cause it is...when you enter the UK you get asked why you dislike the UK and once you are able to offer enough reasons, you are granted permission to enter

Fun aside, it is not so much that I dislike the UK or hate the UK...it is more that it frustrates me on many levels as it could do sooooooooooooo much better in many aspects without that much effort, which is why I decided years ago not to remain here for the rest of my life...or as it is now, not even for the rest of this year.

However, as mentioned before, I need some time to be able to share my experiences And despite all, I will come back at times to catch up with friends from over here

Though not during snow times as I am not a fan of slippery pathways

This is the Pols and Religion section - Isn't everybody supposed to hate everybody?

As to the OP... Is the UK really worth hating? I mean, the UK had its "era" but I think that the yanks could afford to look down on the UK and Europe (right up until the US and Europe are getting their asses kicked by the Indians and Chinese).

As for anti-american feeling the other way - That's easy... jealousy and resentment.

And you're all so fucking cheerful. We Europeans despise that "can do" attitude you know.

I've lived in the USA (Boston), the UK and France and I can say that the proportion of jackasses and buffons is about the same.

The only real difference was the roads in paris - which are still damaged from the war.

Apparently they were damaged when those garlic eating surrender monkeys dropped their rifles at the first sign of the Germans.

Curious that the OP chose hate when addressing America, yet used dislike when addressing his own country.

That reminds me does anyone know of a retirement home which is situated at the top of a steep hill for next year?

say what you like about us but don't touch our language! sure there is no point in putting "u"s in colour or labour and sidewalk is a much better way of describing that bit of stuff next to a road than a pavement but we invented it,we exported it and we are going to keep it. It won't evolve,it will stay just as it is forever. We have 34 different words for drunk and over 100 for penis. To see just how beautiful our language is I urge every reader to look up or buy Roger's Profaniaurus.
On the subject of hate for fecks sake herb has an H in it so pronounce the bloody thing!

As you may know, I don't like to type alot, try to compact my thoughts, you fuckers throw in all these extra silent 'u' in everything, like colour, labour....thats why I detest you, because of my carpal tunnel.

These vaults must have already been opened for you to know what is inside them?

Stuck in a logical fallacy and just talking crap/incited hatred again?

I love the UK! I owe my language, my education, and my gun control to British history, law and humanism.
Plus, I love their accents, and I do beautiful, terrible things to their good men :-)

I like the UK, they have a different attitude.

My first boyfriends grandparents were born in England and Scotland. He and I would go visit them every Sunday afternoon for tea and shortbread cookies. They talked a little funny but it was amusing. How can anyone hate tea and cookies?

Kidney Pie

driving on the wrong side of the street

Those big funny bear skin hats ceremonial guards wear (ok we have those to in Canada)

using the word "bloody" in every sentence, ie... oh darlin what a lovely bloody kidney pie you made this evening (using the accent of course) mmmm just makes my mouth water.

Fair enough. Obviously climate change gives us hope.

Ouch, got us there too.

Curses LoneWolf, you have us on that one too.
