"Actually, I hope that never comes to pass that parents pick the teachers"

Actually I guess I agree. Because people are lazy and raise lazy kids. However my Parents would not do that. They would've selected the toughest meanest mufikes they could find.

FR now

I owe no money. You owe the teachers who taught you, but not in money.

I owe my Father for teaching me how people are. How to deal with them. How they are motherfuckers and that is really how it is. I owed him for teaching me how to fuck the system. I owe him for alot of things.

He died knowing that I would be able to complete the scam. We fucked the banks out of every dime they would give us and I kept it up. By a special prcoedure in law I got all the stuff, and via the terms and limited ownership (shared) I got the coveted chapter seven bankrupcy. I comsumated the plan. We are like the rulers of the world, we think multigeneraionally. We beat them.

Right now I am selling freon 12, which is illegal and almost impossible to get. This is the good stuff and new in the can, Isotron or something like that. You can't buy it.

I can make a silencer for a gun. I can make weapons that don't even look like weapons. Who do I owe ? School didn't teach me that.

When I get older I will write an autobiography. soon after I will die. I have already lived on decades of borrowed time.

A few parents would try to get their kids a good education (took me a while to realize that mine weren't mean sadists who stuck me in a school that was known for expecting a lot, whenever I complained about the harsh discipline, detention - dunno why I ended up with it so often, I was angelic - tons of home work, strict bedtime and uniform rules...., they told me that they pay a lot, they want to get their money's worth) but I think in general a lot of parents are remarkably not bothered. I'm all for kids being kids and having a bit of fun, but a lot of things I see kids doing now (not holding open a door, not offering a seat to an elderly person, bumping into people with out apologizing, etc.) would have gotten me a clip around the ear. Parents who are too lazy to raise their kids properly picking teachers is a bit of a nightmare.

Alright LadyC, now that you made me think, you must suffer my response.

That is an issue that gets down home real fast. My kids should be educated in the way I say, I made them and they are mine, not so much like property but in a way. I want them to hold my values, to envision similar dreams as I did, and grow to become something I can respect.

I believe my Father grew to respect me before he died. I am fairly sure my Mother respects me, but you would never know it because of how my family is. Just to give you a glimpse, we NEVER say I love you. Ever.

Not to hijack though..........

I owe both my parents for reading us bedtime stories every night.
I owe my local library: all those books for free!
I owe a philanthropic organization for a huge scholarship.
I owe many profs, but in particular one teacher for lifting me up, and another for tearing me down and making me realise people in authority are not necessarily moral or intelligent.
I owe the Canadian gov't and tax-payers for subsidizing the cost of university education by 80-90%

But with summer jobs and pt-jobs, my sibs and I all paid our own way through school, and our parents didn't have to pay a cent.

And sappy but true, I owe one man for teaching me about love :-)

"and I repay that debt every time I pay for someone else to access these crucial government services. "

Actually you pay it back in taxes, but thst is not the point.

I owe Mr. Laski. I used to literally watch him take a piss in the boys room while we discussed the HFE of transistors, as the class was trying to grasp te concept of a car battey. And I'll never forget this algebra teacher named Mr. Kemmit. I was his students when I dropped out. He was a VERY good algebra teacher, never even used the words S M A D, he wanted us to know WHY it is S M A D. I have to admit after thinking about it I have had some good teachers. Of course I cut the rest of the classes.

Did I mention that Mr. Kemmit is blind ? One day his seeing eye dog pissed on the floor. On that day he taught us understanding, of some sort. He did not punish nor chastise the dog in any way. He got paper towels and cleaned up the the mess, AND HE WOULDN'T LET US HELP HIM. The dog had no desire to piss in there, Mr. Kemmit knew it. It happened. The dog just couldn't hold it any longer.

What did that teach us ?

I owe the public school system for teaching me to read and write, and for what little numeracy which I can credit to myself.

It's some kind of law, maybe unwritten, but for some reason you are not supposed to end a sentence that way.

Oops,. in that way.

"Sorry, but less freedom is needed, not more. "

I gotta kick your ass for that. Well at least give it a good "reddening:".

You might remember what I said about the words "promise" and "I" ? They are never to be used in the same sentence.

Well the same thing goes for "freedom" and "less".

Sure, if you can afford to look after them for the rest of their natural lives, make sure they aren't going to be a burden on the system because you pay for them, make sure they don't turn out to be homocidical maniacs and all that, fine, then have them educated as you want them to be, just bear in mind that if you want that right for you, then all the other parents can claim the same right, you know the ones who sponge of the system and never did a day's work will demand the same right or scream discrimination, imagine all the people who go on Jerry Springer demanding the same? Oh wouldn't that be fun?

As for you "making" the children, unless you're a biological wonder, you need a woman as well who possibly had the much harder part in the making (i.e. 9 months pregnancy) - so will she have more of a say than you? How about me? I don't have kids but my taxes are used for education, since it's my money, do I get a say too or is it just people with kids?

Look munchkin, you showed us over and over again that you aren't blessed with brains or education, no need to show us again and again, it would be nice if you'd shake your head a bit, there is the hope that your 2 brain cells create enough friction for you to realize what the topic is, but I guess I overestimate you grossly here.

Edited to get the topic back, somebody was obviously intellectually out of his league - same old, same old...

Well maybe about twenty years of it.

That's the problem really. When you should be home teaching and nurturing you are out making money to pay for the next video game.
