ETA: Fae dear, I am wonderful actually, thank you for asking. I am about to go do my morning Wii routine, and thence outside to my garden to weed awhile, I should think..

P90X is a dvd set usually used for at home. Really intense and lots of results when used well, but it requires you to have specific equipment at home where you can watch a tv. I can't workout at home, never have been able to. And really can't do it while staring at a tv. I dunno, just me. Their plyo and abs routines are great though, so is the stretching dvd. I use them sometimes.

Crossfit can be fiund at www.crossfit.com there is a link on the main page to "what is crossfit" explains it much better than I could ever hope to. Minimal equipment, varied daily, scaled versions of the mainsite workout can be found at the crossfit brandx forum (google it, having trouble posting links from my phone)

Ill add more later. Gotta go workout.

I'm the same way, can't workout at home.  Very boring looking at the tv and too many other distractions (couch & fridge)

That, was the coolest - most awesome - imagery I've received in a long time. /lol/  Thank ya.

Had I known Wednesday mornings would be so amusing, I'd have them more often.  Makes ya want to watch Kill Bill and save a panda all at the same time.

Actually, no you can't. Not well anyway. Its amazing all the things that a vitamin D definciancy effects in the body. Fatigue, depression. Organ function, irregular sleep paterns, joint and muscle pain, digestion, and much more arre all things that can be effected by a lack of vitamin D.

If you don't get at least 20 min of good sunlight a day, live in the far north (or south), don't have sufficiant pigmint in your skin, or for some other reason aren't getting enough vit D, you should take a supplement.

I used to be pretty static with my exercises.  As everyone here knows, work and health never seem to blend well.

However, a couple years ago I ended up with a serious repetitive stress injury from the lack of variety.  Which is something to keep in mind whether getting back into a grove or already in one.

Personally, I use the Insanity routines (close relation workout of P90x and others) to beat up this old body between Jiu Jitsu and trail running.

No equipment is required for Insanity which is why I actually use it.  The variety between discs is fairly extensive which is also nice.  Its primary focus on getting your metabolism through the roof, not so much in looking like Brad Pitt

Unless you're fairly aggressive, or enjoy a variety of humiliation and degradation aspects, Insanity is probably not something I would suggest for most people.  It's a hard enough workout that at the end you'll feel slightly depressed mentally from the extreme calorie burn and exhaustion, as opposed to a good run where you end up with that natural chemical high.

Actually, that's 1990's thinking :) That "Avoid the sun at all costs and lather up with sunscreen!" philosophy has done a lot of damage to the general health of the population the past 20 years or so. SMALL DOSES of sunlight, like 10 minutes a day, are extremely beneficial to your health, due to it's effect on your body's ability to produce Vitamin D. It's been proven many times over now, for example, that women who develop breast cancer have a much greater rate of cure and survival if they had a normal level of Vitamin D PRIOR to developing it. And one of the treatments while undergoing chemo, radiation, etc. is massively high doses of Vitamin D.

You actually DO need Vitamin D, very badly. A lot more things can happen to you without it than can happen to you by a little exposure to sunlight.

I wasn't aware one could do such an act of treachery to a pawnie.

It goes to show, even ponies can grow up on the wrong side of the tracks. . . or was it seduced by the darkside? /lol/

i was kidding.

i am perscribed a lot of suppliments at levels that a dr. has to sign off on because i can't get them out of food.

That's how i came by the nick-name "living dead girl", i had a standard blood panel done, and most of the results came in so low the redid the test, only to find that my body was somehow functioning with a lot less of these things than it should have had. That's where the " you can live without it, i do " has become a running joke for me. After one blood panel, i was called on my girl-friend's cell phone while we were grocery shopping, and ordered to report to the ER because my potassium had dropped to a critical level. The nurse kept gawking at me, trying to figure out how i not only was alive, but how my heart wasn't doing somethine bad, and how i had enough vitality to be annoyed about melting frozen pizzas. There are just days that i wish i wasn't a freak.

Anyone want to play "Dr.House" and figure out why no matter vitamin rich a food i eat, i can't get the vitamins and minerals out of it ? Especially potassium ? Lol, you'd save my doctors a lot of work.

Do you know a vit D suppliment thats pretty good for most people ?

Ok, sorry for the lecture, I did misunderstand your comment :) Low vitamin D levels are actually very common, probably 80% of the population has what is considered a below normal level, and probably half of those have levels that are practically nuthin', though in general, levels are on the rise, due to increasing public awareness. I know this because it's what I do for a living.....we do roughly 150,000 Vitamin D tests each month in my department.

Any over-the-counter supplement should be okay, you can pick up a bottle of D-3's at Walmart for $4, take 2 or 3 a day then get checked, see how that does? Other than that, no more medical advice :)

Todays workout: (WOD)

2x:
12 lunge
12 oh squat
12 situps
12 back extensions
5 jumping pullups/negitives
12 pushups
12 bench dips

Then 15 minutes in the sauna while I waited for a bunch of little old ladies with water noodles to finish their water aerobics class

Then:
50m swim/12 pushups/50m swim/12 pushups.

I was supposed to do 5 rounds, not 2. No way. I forgot how exhausting swimming can be! I'm horrible at cardio anyway and I've never been a strong swimmer. I barely made it the last lap. Gotta work on that now that I'm getting back into working out. Its rare that a swimming WOD is assigned, I'm going to have to work it into my skill days.
