"My submission compels me to offer service...my slavery compels me to obey."

I saw this online.  What is the thought on this?

Did you ask the writer of it?

I interpret it as meaning this is the writers natural inclination,
similar to how a right handed person will instinctively reach with that hand.

What does it mean to you?

It was in an article online.  I did not think to ask the writer. Thank you.

I think the writer sees submissive behaviour as serving and slave behaviour as obeying. I am not so sure there are such easy cut lines.

I always resisted being a slave. I saw slaves in a negative light. After some introspection i came to the conclusion that i was indeed being a slave to N
and i could call it whatever i wanted to but it still was what it was. I can call a dustpan an apple tree but it will still be a something to collect dirt off the floor.

It means the person who wrote it is service oriented. Not that all subs are. And that in that particular relationship the dominant is focused on obedience first, instead of service or emotional transparency.

Not all of us are wired the same. I get no kick from service. I do laundry because it needs to be done not because it's the hottest thing since sliced bread for me.

My thought is that I don't think there there is any sub/slave split... at least not one which can be generically defined across the boards. So any statement of this sort seems unlikely to me. I used to say, "Well yeah. Sure nobody agrees on this stuff but surely I have a working definition of my own." I've gotten rid of that too. It's not necessary between Carol and I. She is "Carol". It's not useful outside of Carol and I and it tended to cloud my thinking.

Carol serves and obeys me because she loves me.

Slavery is all about UNCONDITIONAL obedience.  Submissiveness means you choose whether or not you will obey.

Pffft!!!

I'll refer you to this post so you will understand the implications of the words slavery and unconditional when used together.
