This isn’t a jobs plan it’s an unemployment plan. To create jobs you have to increase demand. To increase demand you have to increase income of the middle class - and Republicans do the opposite. That’s why Republicans never create jobs.

I know Popeye would love more trade deals.

New Republican 'jobs' plan calls for even more tax cuts for wealthy individuals, corporations

Other than adding hundreds of billions, if not trillions, to our national debt, more tax cuts won't accomplish a single thing. To be fair to Republicans, they do have a few other proposals: they want to increase drilling for oil, reform patents, eliminate many regulations for consumer and environmental protection, and enact trade deals with Columbia, Panama, and South Korea. They say the latter proposal will generate 250,000 jobs, the only specific job figure in their entire plan.

Republicans also say part of their jobs plan is to reduce the national debt. You may ask how that could be possible if they are also planning to cut taxes on the wealthy and corporations. The answer is simple: they plan to decimate Medicaid and eradicate Medicare.
That, in a nutshell, is the Republican economic philosophy: cut taxes on the rich and shift much of the burden for covering health care costs to the poor and the elderly. And the most pathetic thing about it is that it won't even create a single job.

It`ll "trickle" back to the cons as campaign donations.

That`s the main reason cons tongue clean the ass-holes of corporate rich types so thoroughly.

The Republicans came out with general ideas. It is not a detailed plan. One can download the whole document here: http://majorityleader.gov/Jobs/index.shtml

The idea to stimulate small businesses is OK. However, the whole thing would do very little for it. For example, signing all "free trade" agreements guarantees US job losses [see: http://citizen.typepad.com/eyesontrade/2011/05/trade-deficit-with-fta-countries-continues-to-climb.html ]. The number 250,000 net job creation is false. Tax 25% for job creating businesses would help. How would changing visa system to allow more skilled foreigners helps employing Americans in is not clear to me? How will austerity measures improve job creation?
In general, the emphasis of the proposal is how to make and keep more profits for mega-corporations.
There is nothing that would create jobs in fast pace.

Obama administration is sleeping, the job issue could, if effectively dealt with, improve their rating.

Wow you actually had it right....for 11 whole words!

To create jobs you have to increase demand FOR EMPLOYEES, not for "stuff". That means making doing business in the US competitive, not artificial redistribution of wealth.

Gosh....please don't make me defend Brain.

Demand for labor is a complex demand, derived from the demand for goods.

You know this.

How would you describe taking money from whatever vestiges you have left of a proletariat and bourgeousie at the moment, and funnelling it all upwards to the ruling class if not an "artificial redistribution" of wealth?
It may be trickling, but it isn't trickling down at the moment...

Complex yes. For this board you have to dumb it down. Besides you and the disappeared (Invisible Black I think it was) I have no hope of anyone fathoming just HOW complex, much less the complexities themselves.

However, DERIVED from the demand for goods overstates that aspect. Supply of goods (if marketed properly) can create demand for those goods as well as vice versa. The jobs to create that supply (and the demand for employees to fill those jobs) precede the demand for the product.
In fact for most products demand for the product drives expansion of the labor market, but the creation.

But you dont get the R&D and investment in creating that supply domestically when there are so many negatives to doing business here.

No, I had it exactly right. It's the middle class that makes America great. And it's this shrinking middle class that represents America in decline. You need to increase the income of the middle class so that they have money to buy.

It's when people increase their purchases and spend money that jobs are created. And it's Republican's refusal to increase the income of the middle class and the poor that accounts for their dismal performance in creating jobs.

"It's when people increase their purchases and spend money that jobs are created."

People have spent alot of money in the last few decades. The problem is too much of it going out of the country.
