ORIGINAL: RedMagic1 Tazzy, I'm sorry, but I don't want to get into definitions of someone else's terms on top of everything else. I think what happened is that I defended the position of a very unpopular poster, and my intelligence, manhood, sexual habits and research skills were called into question, when I stated a sociological position, and didn't attack anyone. I don't tend to follow long, argumentative threads, and I think there must have been some major history or payback that was in the air, and I was the lucky recipient. In any case, I enjoyed *your* posts! :) This is pretty much on point. It's a shame you were caught in the crossfire. I find it all somewhat bizarre because the only person I was responding to - with a degree of civility I thought - was the OP, so I'm not sure how you became a target except you simply had the temerity to express your opinion without following the party line. Put bluntly, yes, a few people are working out their issues. Any woman who asserts that a man who feels emasculated by losing his job has severe issues is not only ignorant when it comes to the opposite sex, but also clearly harbours a degree of hatred for them. I pity any man foolish enough to be caught in the orbit of someone whose value system is so warped. This is the inherent danger in cliques. The group-think which accompanies them becomes a straightjacket of oppression which simply does not tolerate anyone who goes against the prevailing orthodoxy. The fact that some of the worst offenders are apparently given free passes for bad behaviour while anyone who takes them on is slapped with a ban tends to result in a board dominated by truly nasty pieces of work instead of thoughtful commentators who can reason. Given the somewhat tentative nature of the OP, I've taken things relatively easy in this thread. Personally, I felt it'd be in poor taste for it to degenerate into a shit-fight. The fact that several posters couldn't conduct themselves with a similar level of civility is a savage indictment of their level of maturity.
