skalover -> Light Bondage Tips (5/13/2006 5:39:11 PM)

Ok, so I have this new boyfriend and we want to do some light bondage while we make out, not neccicarily leading to sex.

Do you guys and girls know any ways to tie wrists and/or ankles in a way that does get in the way too much for the first few bases, but that will be enough to give a bit of a feeling of being under the other person's control?

Hopefully this can get us past some akward trial and error, i've never really wanted to do bondage, in a way like this, before

thanks!

A few saftey points:  don't use silk scarves to tie up wrists or ankles.  Silk can get very small when it bunches and do some pretty nasty damage.

My first experiments were with some thick old neckties.  Find the ones that have lots of padding in them...a good place to look is Goodwill or the Salvation Army.  Again, avoid skinny silk ties.

Or, you could really go for a "mental bondage" type of scene, where you tie some sort of rope like thing to each side of the headboard, then you tell the one being "bound" to grab on to a rope with each hand (but you don't actually tie them up).  You then begin to do the nasty wild things that are going on in your head to him (or he does them to you), all the while reminding the "bound" person that if they let go of the rope, you will stop.  This gives the feeling of bondage, without any of the risks.

If this works, and you want to progress to deeper levels of play, do some reseach.  Lots of good information out there on how to do this stuff safely.

My suggestion would be just to make sure you read up on it beforehand if you aren't using easily applied leather cuffs. Leather cuffs may look scary but they are actually safer than most other kinds of bondage.

DO NOT USE METAL HANDCUFFS! They can cause serious damage and are not for novices.

There are nerves in the wrists that can be damaged. These nerves usually run alongside the bone that protudes on the side of your wrist. Make sure knots don't sit on that bone.

Make sure you can slide 2 fingers underneath the ropes or whatever you use, that will allow the circulation to keep moving.

Avoid having ropes or anything around the neck, or even running alongside the arteries on the side of the neck below your ears...

Don't use something like scarves or ties that can get badly knotted or slip tighter as the person struggles...Keep scissors, or a knife, nearby, capable of cutting the person free in an emergency.

Check hands and feet for signs of cooling, or numbness.

If you feel tingling be sure you tell your partner.

Bondage can be fun and I really don't want to frighten you against it. But please be careful, it can be dangerous. I'll post some safety links once I have a moment.

Take a fairly long piece of rope and lay the middle under each ankle.  Wrap around the ankle snug but not tight until you have about 4-6 loops and then bring the two ends together and tie a shoelace knot (one over, one under) and then take the two ends and tie them around the bed post and tie a shoelace knot and a bow.

Repeat till bound.  The multiple wraps keep the pressure spread out, look pretty good, and are very very simple, and can be untied quickly.  Also, don't look at the wrapping as something to rush through, play with the rope like it is your hands, pull it slowly over your lovers skin, make the tying up as part of your foreplay.

Another thing is to do the wraps but leave 4"-6" between the wrists/ankles, then rather than start another wrap, bring the two ropes together, twist them and wrap around the loops you have already made but going diagonally between the wrists/ankles.  This will tighten the loops up and make a very firm handcuff like bondage, very pretty, fairly easy, and just finish off with a bow tie!

As usual Taggard has some good ideas.
I personally use soft cotton ropes designed to be used on horse martingales. They are soft braded ropes that can be found inexpensively ($10-20) through state line tack. I will loop them around his wrists then use the headboard or end post as a hinge point. At no time do I tie these off. They're easy on the wrists and at any time I drop the rope and the partner is loose.
I like these for newbies as sometimes heavy bondage items freak them out, the more innocent the object the easier it is to get consent.  ie.Wow I have wooden spoons like that in my house that can't possibly be kinky or hurt...he heh he if they only knew [:D]

Question: is string lighting involved in "light" bondage? how do you dominate a light? would a light submit?[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

Mental bondage is a great idea.  It can be a big rush to just be TOLD to keep your hands or legs in a certain position, and it can be a great way to signal "whoa we need a moment" or "OK let's get playing!"

Also try using thick nylon rope and tying them into slipknots that can be undone with just a quick tug on the ends.

And keep exploring and have fun!
