http://www.todaysfacilitymanager.com/articles/messy-desk-messy-mind-not-so-fast.php After years of trying and failing to maintain a tidy desk or workspace, I have just given up and that because In my mess I know where everything is and what needs doing, whereas in industry I have always been chastised for the way I work despite being the most productive. Something which I believe has hindered my career, especially my last employer, he an ex military warrant officer, my work space used to drive him nuts and he would stop production to make me tidy up and then wonder why subsequent days my production was down, to which I got more shit, until I messed the place up again, then production was massively enhanced. Now don't get me wrong, the mess does get tidied up from time to time, and that because I lose track of where things are, but tidying is the start of the process, to find things to then create another mess, my own personal mind map and reminders. But perhaps Albert Einstein was correct ; "If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, of what, then is an empty desk?" So what are you, organised or the very epitome of chaos, a clean desk or a messy desk ? And what are you in terms of production ?
