I think that eventually we have the right to know why, but not instantly.... had you ever considered that it might compromise an investigation to say why they did it?

As long as the cops stay on their side of the fence while formulating an investigation, then, sure, deny away and not compromise anything. Once they step foot across that line and enter private property on a warrant, the veil of secrecy comes down. They must produce proper explanations instantly when asked.

If their intelligence is off and a person is not where they expected them to be, then its too bad if anything is compromised. They pretty much compromised it themselves, when bad data leads to busting down the wrong door.

Maybe the police had information stating the woman in question was at the residence in some verifiable manner?

It is a matter of process that police will show a person the actual search warrant. The man was held, I would suspect, until it was confirmed that he not only had nothing to do with his former wife's legal obligation to the US Dept. of Education, but also didn't know her location or manner to contact her. If the man in question feels wronged, he can take the matter up in court as per of his 1st Amendment right.

Hunkie,

They don't have to tell you anything since it was not your door.

In the youtube link video- the ABC reporter at the end reiterates- that the police did not break the door- ...same video showed a broken door.

It is not my door.  If I lived in that town- I sure would want some answers.

They have to say what or who they are looking for.... they did that in this case.

The adequacy and validity of that is seriously in question.

I think it's more likely they were looking to arrest his estranged wife for failure to appear in court. As far as I know, you can't be arrested for not paying debts with the exception of child support. Anyone can be arrested for failing to appear in court, regardless of what the case is about. I could be wrong though.

If I had to choose which was more doable, it would be Colbert... I love the way he can wear a suit

When did student loans go from a civil matter to a criminal matter?

Only fox declares itself fair and balanced.... thats why its funny

I know how you guys get when the other side gets their say.

When conservatism compares with liberalism, liberalism doesn't look so good.

This is why you guys have tizzy fits over FOX

And it's no longer funny.......

I think you should really look up the defination of Liberalism, Conservatism, and Liberal.

In fact, check out the thesaurus on 'liberalism'. Likewise, why not look up the word, liberal, to see what it is based on from Latin: līberālis (of freedom, befitting the free).

FOX News has zero credibility. They 'report' on material they believe conservatives will eat up without a second thought. The 'news' quality is often one-sided. And yes, they have been known to edit footage that promotes a conservative agenda. The viewership of FOX News is almost entirely from the lowest common denominator of US adult educational levels. If you believe what I am saying is untrue, that might speak volumes of your educational level....

How is this relevant to my opinion that Colbert is more doable than Stewart?

Propably when the woman in question is accused based on evidence of a serious crime. Like bribery, fraud, or embezzlement. Jesus, pahunk! This is the FREAKING THIRD TIME I've had to say this to you in one thread!

ONce more
where did you miss this earlier hunky
A U.S. government official confirmed for News10 Wednesday morning federal agents with the Office of the Inspector General (OIG), not local S.W.A.T., served the search warrant. The official would not say specifically why the raid took place.   He did say the search was not related to student loans in default.
Even when told factual information you go back to your original bullshit and deny everything else, what is the fucking point

Quit making excuses for an overzealous police action.  Why is the burden of proof on the guy who felt wronged, and not on the people making the wrong? Something is broken here. So lets all quit jerking off.

Even if the guy's wife stole millions of dollars from DoE, it doesn't warrant a battering ram at 6am.  What, a knock on the door in a civil manner is insufficient? Gotta have 'shock and awe' when dealing with alleged white collar crime?  What the fuck.

Hunky is NOT being unreasonable on this one.

Oh, yeah you got it backwards then.  conservatism doesn't look good.  but thats faux nuze, and real conservatives wouldn't bother with asswipe like that.

Ok if it makes you feel better to lash out and spell it FAUX NUZE then good for you.

The fact is that liberal/progressive thought and bias has always dominated TV journalism. Liberals end up with a monopoly which included not only the big 3 but the CNN networks and the other cable news outlets and always with the same big stories and video clips night after night.

Then along comes FOX which actually give conservatives a voice and you guys can't take it.
And they have liberals on all day long debating conservatives tit for tat. IMHO conservatives come out on top because when you compare logic to emotional gibberish, logic wins out.
