The vast majority of those girls that end up on the street started out in a home where there was some sort of abuse, mostly sexual, and often from their very own fathers. Tell me, how many of us would have a very good view of men if the ones that were tasked to keep us safe either failed us, or even worse, victimized us. I do not know if that was what happened to Hannah, but it does put an even more grotesque view of the 13 year old girl who ran away from her father to someone who pimps her, but feels it is better to fuck strangers for money, than to fuck her father. Some times life ain't pretty. We FAIL many people in our society, and prostitutes are one of the largest failures there is, not because they exist... but because of the very lifestyles they are forced to endure by the neglect of seeing them as being fully human beings. If I was treated like nothing but fuck meat since I could remember, I can imagine it would twist my thinking, too. The thing is, when everyone in a system looks down on you for things you have no control over, what do you do about that? How do you overcome it? I think Hannah is a testament to survival that she isn't on the streets anymore, and she is trying to assert her value to the human race on her own terms... if that ain't fucking decency as a human being, I do not know what is.
