Since the thread has stayed on Viet Nam I must point out that the war was run by the same man responsible for the development of the Edsile and thought that the Tbird would be perfect if it had a back seat.  If we had had a person in defense who understood the military it would have been entirely different.  And the fact that the French lost proves nothing the last time the won was under Napoleon.

My historical perspective is that I enlisted toward the end of that war.  Didn't go went into mid-eastern linguistics.

McNamara tried to kill both the Edsel and the Tbird.

His claim to fame was that he was Curtis LeMays Japan bombing planner and casualty enhancer guy in WW2.

Fucker could get em killed.  Lemay was the AirForce Chief of Staff in the Kennedy years, and McNamara wasn't the hawk he was in the Johnson years, the fool was loyal as a dog.  That was his trouble.

By god, Mr President you want peace, I'll get you peace.

By god, Mr President you want to kill VietNamese, I'll kill you some VietNamese.

So other than being absolutely incorrect again......

Since the thread has stayed on Vietnam...perhaps you should just sit back and read for awhile....at the end of the day you might actually know who was President when we got out,and why we could never win, rather than all of the silly bullshit you have been trying to pass off as knowledge.

Ford was president when we finally got out but Johnson was still president when Cronkite gave his famous/infamous editorial.  I guess you have to resort to insults because that is all you have going for you, that cheerful personality.

What I have,or don't have going for me is not your concern....your attention would best be spent worrying about the content of your own posts.....awful sloppy pal.
None of the above sentiments were influenced in any way shape or form by any liberal college professor.
Obviously in reply to Bama....and not Ron....once again CM fucks up,lol.

WHAT famous/infamous editorial did Cronkite give?
The editorilal he made after Tet,when he told the nation that the best we could hope for was a stalemate...and that the time to negotiate peace,as an honorable nation ,was at hand.
That single editorial was influential in turning the peace movement into a grass roots tidal wave of sentiment...ranted than the exclusive province of hippies, draft dodgers and malcontents.

Yeah, I just took some time to go get a decent link to it, it was a purely rhetorical question.

CNN's Anderson Cooper To Be Honored By Conservation Group Tonight

The National Wildlife Federation (NWF) will be honoring CNN's Anderson Cooper as a "Wildlife Hero" at its 75th Anniversary celebration June 15. A spokesperson for the organization confirmed that Cooper will be receiving the award for his coverage of the Gulf oil spill last year.

The NWF identifies itself as "the nation's largest conservation organization," working through education, preservation of habitats and ecosystems and protection of wildlife.

FTFPressRelease: "Cooper traveled the world for “Planet in Peril,” a documentary about issues threatening the planet, its inhabitants and its natural resources. "

Ok, so Anderson Cooper makes a documentary, and you have a problem somehow with an 3rd party honoring his work in that documentary?

Do you think that a documentary is news reporting?

I think we're back to the "Inattentive Observers Can't Tell The Difference Between NEWS, OPINION and NEWSERTAINMENT?" issue once again. I think you need to do better vetting your sources if they continually make similar errors.

So you object to his reporting on something that you say wasn't a big deal?  History re-writes should wait a couple years.

Name names... EXACTLY WHO is "A spokesperson"? I ask because that's not what I came away with from the site's own information.
