The implementation of Sharia would first necessitate a complete and new form of government, the destruction of both our Bill of Rights and the Constitution and a host of other things.

This fear and all those state laws that have recently been passed outlawing Sharia are nothing but smoke screens to hide what is really going on---yes the US is in danger of becoming a theocracy but it is a Christian theocracy that it will turn into.

Well there's no denying that Christian reconstructionists and Muslim fundies share similar goals to some extent - they're both very much uncomfortable with erotic expression in any form, and particularly feminine eroticism - remember Ashcroft had a statue of Justice draped (she is normally depicted with one, or both breasts bared).

i.e., certain things, like public modesty (hijab) and erotica/pornography (Muslim aniconism) are shared, and of no small political interest - and politics, as we know, makes strange bedfellows.

It does require some effort to maintain a secular democratic state in the face of religious fanaticism and neurosis, which has simply been around too long to just go away, and in that conflict, exaggeration is commonly employed as a weapon.

Our education  has suffered, because all you have to do is study the crusades- and  the other culture- to learn who does better with human rights.  With over 1000 years of history-  ,  your examples should have been in your schooling.

But not to worry- I did not pay attention much in school either.

Sharia law - was imposed during the crusades.   It is not to be taken lightly.   This is not about someone choosing their personal religion, it is about one IMPOSING a repressive regime of oppression on the whole of society.
