DeviantlyD -> Pulled Threads (6/23/2011 10:53:33 PM)

So a certain member makes a thread, essentially a bitch and moan thread, and then, after he is proven wrong on several different points, whines to have the thread removed. In all likelihood, he can't accept the possibility of being wrong and figures the thread just has to go away so that bit of embarrassment isn't seen by everyone. And what happens? The thread gets yanked. Unbelievable. Does everyone who wants their thread pulled have their request granted? Or just those who throw a tantrum?

juliaoceania -> RE: Pulled Threads (6/24/2011 9:28:31 AM)

Instead of making a whiny bitching moaning thread of your own, why not ask the mods about why the thread was yanked. Perhaps they have information you do not. It isn't necessarily a conspiracy to keep one poster from being embarrassed.

Since there are many of us that are completely oblivious to the thread of which you speak, I fail to see how this is productive.

windchymes -> RE: Pulled Threads (6/24/2011 9:34:03 AM)

I don't believe threads are pulled just because someone requested that they be pulled, so I suspect there was another reason. Perhaps the OP had a good reason for requesting it, or they may have been on moderation previously for the same reason and it was pulled again.

Either way, it would nice if we could stop the whining about the moderation here. Us regular posters are getting tired of reading it.

The mods have enough to do without having to explain every move they make.

*hands wynd a handful of "fuckings" *

Welcome. heather left them with a big red fucking bow on them in a lovely wicker basket. I have a few to spare.

You've been here since 2007 and you think mods kowtow to temper tantrums? Seriously????

VideoAdminAlpha -> RE: Pulled Threads (6/24/2011 8:19:10 PM)

I know the thread of which you speak because I'M the one that pulled it, and I pulled it for a reason. Since it is apparent that you are very curious as to why it was pulled(although to be frank I don't know if you even posted on it) you are welcome to cmail me privately. We just had a HUGE thread about how we don't leave markers, or explanations, or any mention of a pulled thread/post, but since this seems to be getting under your skin for some reason, and you think apparently that I kowtowed to a member, feel free to write me if you still have a question. You are not likely to get anything in this thread helpful towards that end. If you do not write me, I will assume you do not want the answer as much as you appear to here.

Where does one get these mods that protects one from making an ass of themselves.....sounds like something I need...and desperately.

i wouldn't mind having my life moderated. Anytime i did or say something really stupid, a moderator could just pull it and pffftt!!! It would be gone, without a trace.

My mental illness (no, really, I have one) comes with a case manager. But I'm not sharing!

ETCUA (Edited to clear-up ambiguity)
Glad to share illness, since sometimes it seems to much for one person to bear (especially when I forget to take meds.)  Will NOT share case manager. LOL!

Some view this as a replacement for being liked[:D]

Hey, Stern! Thanks for your kind words, but, no, really...... I do.  Revealed it what seems a million posts ago (that's seems about right - maybe not quite a million, but certainly up there in count.)  I think it was on the "I admit" thread in defense of somebody else who had a similar problem and whose SO had no clue - as in denying such a thing as a mental illness even existed. <"You could will it away if you wanted to, just like cigarette smokers can stop."> Gave him a good post-beating...... HEY! New, kewl phrase for use here..... post-beating.

Srsly. Although I do attempt to moderate myself, I find that I would like my very own Alpha. Or maybe a Theta or a "21". That would be The Shmodizzle, I gotta tell ya.. [:D]

Hillwilliam -> RE: Pulled Threads (6/24/2011 10:52:11 PM)

Ive had threads pulled and it wasn't because I asked. I always get a letter of explanation from the Mod that did it and frequently a suggestion about how it could be restarted without causing probs and that's that.

No muss, No fuss, no worries.

tazzygirl -> RE: Pulled Threads (6/24/2011 11:07:33 PM)

~FR

Had a thread yanked. I askd the Mods why. Was told it was being cleaned up and they hadnt finished yet. Sometimes its just that simple.

sunshinemiss -> RE: Pulled Threads (6/24/2011 11:40:56 PM)

That's cause you're a dirty girl.

RemoteUser -> RE: Pulled Threads (6/24/2011 11:51:47 PM)

I think it's a shame for any communication to be cut off - if it's healthy.

That said, I'm sure some things just go too far, be it from space or concept. Happens in bars, in offices... Reality checks on topic are good. When it degenerates into something else, it's a shame and occasionally, inevitable.

I don't envy the moderators their job, but someone has to do it. Considering how often I censor myself, I know firsthand that people by and large just aren't ready to handle certain concepts or points-of-view. If I get too old for a timeout, then I'd have to think that I'm too damn serious. Really. Who has time for that? [;)]
