All the wold is a stage, what happens and is reported is part of that stage, what do you believe and what do you don't ?

And furthermore, why do you believe it or not ?

That's kind of a "chicken and egg" question, isn't it?  What I mean is... what one believes is often based on what's reported, and what's reported often dictates why one believes what they do?!!

It used to be that we should believe only half of what we see and nothing that we read. With modern photo editing and CGI I suppose it is nothing that we see or read?

I think most people tell a narrative through their own experience, and none of us are objective storytellers. So, I do not "trust" anyone, necessarily. I think the best we can do is get exposure to wide and varied sources of information, and then use our critical thinking skills to try to discern what is accurate and what is not.

Critical thinking is not something that most people want to engage in. It means assessing claims, researching them, and discarding or accepting the messages you are receiving. It also means not believing in a story because it fits the narrative you would like to tell, and rejecting more accurate information because it does not fit with your personal narrative. Confirmation bias is something we all can be guilty of, and our natural inclination is to accept information that agrees with our worldview, and reject (sometimes attack) information that contradicts it... or even not see it at all.

I am human, I make mistakes about what I can rely on and what I should discard, like all people do. I know that if it can be shown to me that a certain person knowingly and intentionally deceives their audience, I will never trust that source again... especially if they never corrected their "mistake".. I then assume it was not a mistake at all, but a willful and intentional fabrication.

ummm, not sure if it explicitly applies, but the song popped in my head.... So, here, it is.

The more I know, the less I understand
All the things I thought I knew, I'm learning again
I've been tryin' to get down to the Heart of the Matter
But my will gets weak
And my thoughts seem to scatter
But I think it's about forgiveness
Forgiveness
