Don't worry. I'm going to keep this within the boundaries of the guidelines. This past weekend, MP and I attended Northern Exposure. This was the second year running for this event, and I have to tell you that I had an absolute blast. I met a number of folks from here in the great white north and once again, here I am as a transplant being welcomed by another kink community. I had the chance on Saturday to meet Wasillamale. (I hope I've got that screen name right.) Not only was he a pleasure to talk to, but he makes a kick ass salmon dip! He was even good enough to send Me the recipe after going home from the late Saturday night party. A great thing for that special yen. This was the first time that I had the opportunity to attend a class given by Obsidian and Obsidiansnamaste. These folks are the current titleholders of International Master/slave out of Austin, TX. I've been at events before where they were presenting, but I hadn't sat in when they were at SELF due to scheduling conflicts. They have now been added to My list of folks that I would recommend, if you have the chance to be in one of their classes........ go. They have great material to present and a fantastic approach to M/s that I think many people could benefit from. Theirs might have been My favorite classes of the whole event.

how do you win the title of International Master/slave? First of all I assume you have to enter the international Master/slave competition which is a weird thing to do. Who are the judges? Previous winners of the international Master/slave competition or is it a bit like X factor where celebrity Masters(and possibly slaves) get to vote. There is a fortune to be made here surely, phone voting etc. If I wanted to try to compete in this prestigious tournament I guess I must first win a regional title. Does anyone know when the North West London Eliminator is being held?

The titleholders will be provided with vest patches that will include the title name and year and a medallion... OMG! It is really that serious? I am sure everyone as a great time but seriously????? Does the slave have a vest to put his/her patch on? Olympic scoring system? Brilliant! 5 different categories? Sorry for not taking this too seriously but it is bizarre in the extreme

Why is it bizarre? Because it's not something that you deem worthy? A lot of the folks who get involved in such things do so because they have adopted a certain way to live and found the way that works for them. Part of holding those titles is about helping to share their experience with people in how living a M/s lifestyle works in their households and the philosophies that they use. The particular presentation that resonated with Me was titled "Power Exchange and Authenticity". The other that I attended was "The Winter of Our Discontent". Since these folks present these classes in different locations across the country, it might be helpful when someone here lets other people know that it is interesting and educational material.

I am fully aware after admitting my "interests" to some of my friends that there are people out there who view us all as weird,and possibly dangerous, but competitions and titles( with vest patches) does seem a little silly. Lets not get carried away. I have noticed that you always capitalise yourself,is that really necessary? To me it is one of the many cliches that stop genuine people from learning and understanding.......strip away the bullshit and we are just people trying to have a good time and enjoy ourselves.Lets try and make it easier rather than harder for nillas(cliche) to join in.

LadyP, Glade to hear Alaska and Northern Exposure is treating you well :) Sounds like you are having fun and that is pretty good for having just moved! I can be such an introvert it would take me a year to adjust! Not to mention I really hate the cold! But glad you are enjoying it so far!

Thank you, mummy, for staying on topic. I was really glad to see a state-wide event of this fashion held. Things are quite different here, but I thought it was great to get folks from, not just this state, but it was great to see folks from TX, NJ, and other locations to promote education.

Thanks, GT. There were a few good presenters there that I really enjoyed, but Obsidian and his namaste really stuck with Me. Since some of these classes will be available at various conventions over the next couple of months, I thought it might be helpful if people were interested in a review.

In Savannah? No you're not. SELF was just a couple of weeks back in Atlanta and DomCon will be coming in October. Damn shame I didn't apply as a presenter, Myself.
