I'm still waiting for you to grow up enough to respond to my question about your raccoon fetish.     Come on Emily, surely you are grown up enough to tell us what you meant by that comment and to stand by it instead of ignoring my repeated requests.

And if you look back in 20 seconds you'll realize how silly you all look ragging on me for saying it's just a little fun. But obviously fun is something you don't do.

And I certainly hope that in 20 years I more resemble this "lil snit" than a dried up old shrew who has lost her joie de vivre.

Light something on fire, blow something up, chew bubble gum, laugh till you pee your pants. Let the kid inside you out to play, It's good for you.

I'm sorry, you're right, you've asked a few times. I really should pay more attention, I was just having fun poking the fuddy duddies.

Raccoons make great pets, they are wonderfully good fun to play with. They are cute and cuddly and they have very agile hands and expressive faces. They are smart and mischievous, and they can and will get into everything.

But when they are pregnant, they are very un-fun (much like some of the posters on this thread). They are sulky and unpleasant, and generally quick to bite. Raccoon bites HURT, they have very sharp teeth.

So it's not a fetish, though I suppose ordering somebody to try snuggle a grumpy raccoon would be an effective punishment, if a little drastic.

You're really not very good at this are you?

You mean I am not an 18 year old lesbian with little experience flashing my undies? Admittedly so, ducky!

But please be sure to share...when you acquire more experience flashing the undies that is.

So you're not mature enough to admit that it was a childish slander at someone's avatar.      I expected as much and your response is quite confirming.

Like I have to laugh to pee in my pants......you are young aint ya?

I am not a fuddy duddy, you have no clue what I consider fun. What I do know is, when folks are setting off explosions loud enough to scare horses, without a permit and on a date that is not normally associated with big kabooms, they should stop it.

You are so busy trying to appear to be so much younger and cooler than the rest of us, you are totally missing the point.

But that's ok...at your age, it is your job to do that.

When I was 18, my fun didn't come from typing on a keyboard.

You claim myself and some others just don't know how to have fun, and yet, here you sit.  On a Friday night, no less.  My my, things have changed over the years.  I'm old and boring, so it's to be expected....but you....you have joie de vivre.   Sort of like those who engage in role play games and call it reality.

Fireworks vs. Home Made KaaBooms
I understand the difference. Have enjoyed both, but not at the expense of neighbors. Always WAY out away from any buildings or homes, like an abandoned air field, a lake or pond well off the beaten path. Just courtesy of a common nature. Of course, anything can be taken too far .... for example, the local moron who built 10 pipe bombs for for entertainment purposes. Some peoples children!!!

I'm not sure who's avatar I was slandering, I don't think anybody with a raccoon avatar has posted here. The remark was simply referring to just how much fun she wasn't. If you had even a smidgen of a sense of humour, you'd have recognized that as well, but you, like others, don't seem to.

And since you're so all-fired into being adult, why don't you try acting like one. It will do you some good. I may be wrong, but I always thought adults didn't try gang up and bitch at people who disagreed with them over something as simple as fireworks, but clearly I was wrong, that sort of stuff is viewed most favourably around here. I guess I need to regress my behaviour back to 3rd grade level to fit in and be considered "adult" enough for you guys.

Emily's opinion aside, I hate fireworks. I live in the woods, literally surrounded by thousands of acres of trees. I don't understand people coming out here and setting off fireworks, especially in dry years. Every year I wonder if this is the year when a forest fire starts and my house burns down. Fortunately, it has been raining like crazy, so I know it won't be this year. It isn't so much that I hate fireworks, as I hate the jerks who ignore the law, as well as other people's safety

Ugh. I hate this time of year. And New Year's too. It's after 11 p.m. here on June 30th, not July 4th, and some jerk just set one off. It doesn't matter that it's illegal. The police do nothing about it here, despite complaints that have been growing over the years. The odd politician raises the possibility of banning them, but I don't imagine that would make too much of a change since the ones people are setting off are already illegal and they set them off outside the allowed dates and times. Those that are for fireworks/firecrackers/illegal aerials/bomb-like stuff all whine about how it's a "cultural" thing. Give me a break. Ancient Hawaiians had aerial fireworks? I don't think so. Firecrackers in the driveway is one thing, but these fireworks that sound like bombs are something else. They are so loud, their vibrations set off car alarms, not to mention setting off all the dogs in the neighbourhood. This is one topic that really gets my ire up. It's supposed to be a long weekend. I usually relax and enjoy having an extra day off. But not at this time of year. :\

June 30th? They waited that long. When I lived in Detroit they started shooting them off the first week in June and didn't quit until almost August. Of course to be fair, some of the might have been gunfire, but still.

They stopped the gunfire except in June through July in Detroit?!?!?!?!

No, you misunderstood. The gunfire is year long. It just get's mixed in with the fireworks in the summer.

You may not be trying to appear as anything, but you are coming across as a whiny little girl. So sorry you can't see that. As others have said, that attitude should improve as you get older.

Note: I said "should" and not "would"

LOL, sorry for the misunderstanding, I didn't clarify that statement by saying we didn't have keyboards and schools were still offering "typing 101" as a class of study!  My first job, we used index cards for record keeping, not sure what Bill Gates was up to then.  Chatting with friends was done at parties, or via Ma Bell, certainly not sitting at home alone in our rooms while typing to faceless names.

I don't hate fireworks at all. I think they're a hoot, when used safely. The OP is ranting about the misuse of them so that they endanger her property. EmilyRocks has complained that other people aren't reading well, but I think that she is having the same issue she complains about, since she thinks that we don't like to have fun. Not at all what the OP was talking about. The OP was about idiots & jerks doing something "for fun" that endangers her & her well-being.

I used to work in a hospital with a burn unit. Fires are no fucking fun at all!!

Since it seems to be de rigeur to open with a remark about Emily, I will...
quote:

but you are coming across as a whiny little girl.
You're right boi, she does come across that way, but the rest of the posters don't come across in a very favourable light either. I've gone back over the thread, and Emily wasn't out of line in the least, perhaps a little snarky with her "broken fun meter" crack, until after she was jumped on by a certain masked lady who seemed to be in a very bad mood. And the rest piled on like a pack of hounds worrying a fox. In fact, to my eye, it isn't the 18-year old who looks bitchy and immature, quite the contrary. All the "adults"  piling on with insults and put downs while demanding the kid behave like an adult. I think she did a better job of that than most of the others. This goes particularly for the raccoon fetish ploy. That was just petty, childish and stupid. For shame!

Oh, and thishereboi, I'm not singling you out, I just used your post to pick the quote from.

Now on to the OP...what can I say? Tough it out and register empty complaints? I guess so, but that seems a little wimpy and it's what has been done all along to no avail. So i say you fight back! If the local authorities won't do anything about it, maybe you should organize the local populace for next year. Form posses and make citizen's arrests if what these guys are doing is illegal. Or even just put up posters claiming that such posses are going to be out patrolling. The threat of armed bands of civilians roaming the countryside will force the cops' hands. They will have to patrol them selves, and they will have to arrest the guys with the home made pyros. And if no such posse ever heads out, the cops can't arrest any of your side. You guys just all head out of town and have a picnic on the days you are supposed to be out vigilantizing. Not very pretty, but it will work. You have to keep in mind that the cops work for you, if they are lax in the performance of their duties, force the issue. Shame them into doing their job.
