I am looking for anyone to share experiences they have had with branding. Was is successful? Did you have it professionally done? What was the recovery time? How large was the brand? ... anything you'd like to share, I'd love to read. Thanks.

I've done cell popping. it was intense, the keloids lasted about 2 months. It was a BK on my arm done after a demo at our dungeon party. I would love to have a brand next.

I should have some old posts on the boards about clip's brand.  It wasn't done professionally.  I did the mark Myself.  A friend of Mine crafted the metal.  Healing time was only about a week because I had used the water method.  The mark itself was about three inches high by three wide and was a connected version of the initials "LP".  (Meaning the bottom of the L was connected to the top of the letter P.)

Water branding is only intended to be a temporary mark and we didn't do anything to enhance the scarification.  Since clip is rather light skinned, a person really does have to go looking for the scar to be able to see it.  We have to reapply the brand every six months or so for it to be obviously visible.

It is a great bonding experience, especially because of the uniqueness of the mark and the fact that I did the strike Myself.  Tattooing him would be more permanent, but I'm not qualified to do it and the equipment is rather expensive.  It's a very quick, easy way to mark your property, if you like that kind of thing.  The health concerns are relatively low as long as you use some common sense about it.  Metal isn't likely to cause an infection, so it's just a matter of keeping the area clean after it's done.

If you have a specific question that I haven't answered, I'll be happy to do so if you would like to ask.

I've been branded twice. Once on my bum, years ago and once on my mons about a year and a half ago.

M did both himself. Both brands are roughly an inch square-ish and healed well with no complications at all.
The one on my bum was cut after a while and had ash rubbed in the cut. It's now a dark colour. The one on my mons was burned for longer and has healed bigger and is clear and white in appearance.

They both itched an awful lot as they healed and went through the scabby phase etc. but both healed perfectly well and as expected.

From branded to totally healed was roughly 6 weeks.

Ditto. Life has given enough scars, i don't need to have inflict one upon me on purpose.

Too often people seek permanance in tempory things because they cannot manifest it in deeper ways in their own life.

I'm sure that's one way to look at it, Michael.  The other way is that it's just a really great way to explore new horizons.

If branding is not something that you care for, that is all good and well. However, don't berate those who enjoy it enough to seek it out.

To the OP

I have been branded; but they were done quite a few years ago. Neither was done 'professionally'; he did them with brands that he made himself. I still carry the scars, though you have to really search for them now because time has faded them quite well.

When they were done, it took about 12 weeks for healing, but he burned the skin quite deeply at my request. No infections and no real issues other than the longer healing time than most would have taken.

Tons of experiences with "branding", which is the process involved in creating a unique name and image for a product in the consumer's mind through consistent themed advertising campaigns, which aim to establish a significant and differentiated presence in the market that attracts and retains loyal customers.

Oh wait... not THAT kind of "branding"?!!  Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeever mind.

It can.  However, as I said earlier, in a case of a tattoo, I wouldn't be doing the mark Myself.  Not even if I was the one who drew it up.  Somebody *else* be be the person actually doing the ink.  That's just not quite the same for Me.  It would be like handing My sub over to another top and trying to make the experience as intimate as a scene would be between him and Myself alone.  This was a way for actual participation on My part.

As for pain, the initial strike hurts when it's first done and stings a bit through various stages of the healing process.  I've heard people complain more about welts on their butt.

i suppose. but in my case, i got my tattoo for my own reasons so it really wasn't at the request of mistress. i do understand what you mean though. if she did want me to be branded though, i would have to decline that offer. i stated my reason for that in an earlier comment

yes the strike brand is a bit more intense but that goes away very quickly. the IRON in my case was a coathanger formed and brazed by a freind then using boiling water with oil in it on a clean surface it was applied. the mass of the iron is importaint as thats what holds the heat more mass more heat. the coathanger cools fast so it has to go from water to skin imeadiatly. another way to do the brand is to use a electro cautery pen like the MDs do in surgery i have several batery powered ones that work great. the tip heats up and can be applied to the skin and form patterns. they are very light and will fade after a few weeks or gone over for a more lasting mark. also it can be a bonding time with your owner. i hope this helps in the search for branding materials

If the idea of burning a brand into your flesh is holding you back, there is also a freezing method.

This may be a good place to start. It gives a little bit of information about the various forms of branding. Hopefully, it will help you to learn more.

Personally, I've had enough burns in my life that I would not want to brand another, even if they wanted it, but if a D&s both are inclined towards it, by all means have at it if you wish

i was talking about getting the tattoo done. to me it wasn't painful at all. branding, however, seems excruciating

That was actually my initial thought when I saw the thread title, the "burning patterns into your skin" meaning came after.
