Why should it ? This all took place under Blairs watch and anyhow it should be above political posturing. We now have a case of the freedom of the press vs personal privacy. My view is the press should come second to any personal freedoms we cherish, one of which is not being spied on by newspapers. IF Cameron asked Coulson if he new anything, and was told "No" then Cameron did all he could.

There needs to be a criminal investigation and those caught wrongdoing need to be charged. This doesnt go all the way to Murdochs door and isnt just confined to the News Of The World. The peole i feel sorry for are the families who have lost loved ones caught up in a tawdry phone hacking case.

Sadly unlikely. The same here in Canada with more people caring about Big Brother season finales than Members of Parliament forging official documents with illiterate comments and trying to blame their subordinates, but good luck with ousting him.

I doubt it, so long as the Tory tosses them under the bus in a prompt and forthright fashion.

Which Cameron will do.

It's being suggested* that whether Murdoch is a "fit and proper" person to own press and media outlets in a democracy is now open to question. You don't seem to agree that such questions are a consequence of this scandal. Or am I missing something?

Given the role and power of the media in a democracy, do you feel it's appropriate that those owning and managing the media should be held to high standards of probity and behaviour?

* For instance, here's a Guardian editorial suggesting it

Well, I don't believe it'll happen, but I can hope. I'd absolutely love to see that rancid, repugnant old bastard lose his iron grip on the Fourth Estate and have no more ability to reduce the level of political debate in the UK to the gutter, as he has been doing ever since Thatcher chummied up with him. Christ, every time I see his face - that of a pickled scrotum - I want to head-butt it.

A synopsis: I am not in favour of Mr Murdoch. ;-)

If the media is supposed to be the guardian of truth, then  his tea lady is probably  more fit and proper than he will ever be.
I disagree with Polite, it does go to his door, it should smother him like a fat chick with an oozzing snatch

Murdoch doesnt run the news international group, his son does. James Murdoch has shut the paper and sunday is its last edition. Many would love to hand RM through this but as despicable as it is, its just a small part of his Empire.
