I think that shavage is an individual thing, Tale Schmoo for instance, Lil Miss J's pubes are like steel wool no matter what she tries so she has a standing order to keep it trim.
And she does just that with a small patch on top, She tells me Baby oil, Panthenol cream (Bepanthen) and really really expensive girly razors do the trick and she too is a squat on the edge of the bath hunched over shaver in a ritual that takes upwards of 2 hours, 2 whole baths full of water and a long hot shower not to mention half a bottle of baby oil, velvet soap, cream and some Avon stuff.
Then theres the Razors........ about $30's worth and the carnage she causes to my shaving brush, now HER shaving brush.
The upside is it doesnt feel as if im immersing my genitals into a porcupine (Echidna) as part of some masochistic ritual, and She likes it.
As for me?
I shaved a few times and found that my junk seemed to lack suitable gravitas without foliage and would retreat into my pelvis n refuse to come out until its cover had grown back, I did tell it repeatedly that it should just pull the hood up like a perverse "Kenny" and come out to play but after much pleading with my now shy genitalia I vowed to stick to trimming only.
Im not hirsute anyway so this works for me.
