If this is the Connecticut attacks, you do know the animal that bit both women was rabid, and the victims have to undergo rabies treatment.

If I'd suspect my cat would be caught in a trap, I would also let it out ASAP. They are trapping cats and kill them without even checking if they are infected, vaccinated, chipped, etc. Just ANY cat caught in the trap is killed, they use the nice term destroyed, to make them sound a bit more like an object...

Lady C, they're going after a pack of feral cats. Ones known not to be owned, vaccinated, fed etc. And infected with rabies.
