ORIGINAL: RapierFugue <snip> wearing a full race suit. Pics please. oh and a sorta usless fact from me... More than 5,000 years ago, the Chinese discovered how to make silk from silkworm cocoons. For about 3,000 years, the Chinese kept this discovery a secret. Because poor people could not afford real silk, they tried to make other cloth look silky. Women would beat on cotton with sticks to soften the fibers. Then they rubbed it against a big stone to make it shiny. The shiny cotton was called "chintz." Because chintz was a cheaper copy of silk, calling something "chintzy" means it is cheap and not of good quality. If you watch Manswers(guilty pleasure of mine) shantung silk is the best material for showing mammaries in a wet t-shirt contest! That is AWESOME! Thanks! Heh when was 13 I had the pleasure of going to a stately home, on a field trip, where they had a silk farm , and showed us all the different stages of silk farming, from the growing the mulberry leaves to the various stages of growth of the worms, to cocooning then to the boiling of the cocoons and how they caught the single thread to the end product, I went home with a spool of pure silk in green and purple and a silk scarf for my mum and a dead cocoon, but my best friend sat on it and crushed it on the way home. I had always liked caterpillars as a kid and I had a whole new respect for silk! AH sweet memories of life:)
