Unusual Fruits of Asia I found this video interesting. I am very much a fruit lover. I typically eat two or three servings of two or three different fruits daily. I'm always looking for greater variety. Seeing some of these makes me want to try them. I just wish they were more readily available in markets throughout the world. I also realize that some of these may not be abundant and/or may not transport well. Some may also have very short shelf life. They may also need to be fully ripened before collecting them (so many fruits are picked green and shelf ripened) that it can affect viability. I commonly buy whatever is in season here and based on availability in the local stores and farm markets. But damn these sure look interesting!

I've seen all bar a couple of those in various London supermarkets at various times, but as I have zero interest in fruit unless it's floating in a glass of highly alcoholic cocktail, I haven't experimented with any of them :)

we've eaten a lot of those in our house. I'll pick some up and eat them when I'm in the mood but the durian is just disgusting! My daughter brought some home and it smells like rotting flesh and the texture is mooshy and grainy. How anyone can get past the smell is beyond me.

Normally it is more like a firm custard and very smooth. The smell mostly comes from the outer husk so once you scoop out the flesh (preferably outdoors) if you take the flesh inside it will smell much less. Used to have a market here that got in dragon fruit in season but I haven't seen any in a while.

I lived in Singapore for a while and could never get over the smell of durian fruit. No idea how anyone could eat them.

Even Andrew Zimmern of the TV show I love to watch on the Travel Channel called "Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern" can't eat Durian fruit without gagging..he says it smells like a rotting onion but for him it is more the texture as he will eat just about anything....They say if you grew up with it you are more tolerant of the smell and texture...Tropical fruits I like are passion fruit, loquat and cherimoya and many others......Loquat trees will grow like weeds here in my area...I want to try a fruit called rambutan and also mangosteen....oops..should have watched your video first!
