I don't have a problem with his lifestyle obviously but if you're a chancellor of a school, don't post your face photos all over your CM profile. Imo, that's just simply not very bright unless you really don't care what will happen to your life if a student comes across it or a parent or anyone else for that matter as he's now seeing.

Wanna post your photo? Go for it but then don't be surprised or shocked when it's all over the news eventually.

This, if you are working in such a job, it's just stupid to plaster your face on your profile on a kinky site that's accessible to everybody. Not everybody will like it and if can influence your career, don't do it. Getting high in Amsterdam is not illegal, but you'd be damned stupid to post a picture of you smoking weed on your FB where your employer, neighbours, colleagues, parents, etc. might be able to see it. Just because it's not illegal doesn't mean it's a good enough reason to do it.

That's pretty much why there are no photos of my face. While I have no shame about what I engage in, I'm smart enough to know that not all my clients have the same opinion. At the end of the day, I like my career and my paycheck. And guess what, I can have my career and my kink if I'm discreet.

Also, I'm really thrilled to see the comments on the smokinggun.com article as they show that ordinary everyday people are outraged by this invasion of privacy.

~FR~
The bottom line is, if a person is in a position where s/he could lose his/her employment or his/her life could be ruined by being found kinky, then that person should keep his/her face the hell OFF of kinky sites. That means that person needs to have enough brains to NOT put up face shots. It DOES suck big-time that a person can be fired or whatever for what s/he does in private, but when that person puts it on the internet then it's no longer private now, is it. When I was working in the healthcare field where there were rules and policies against "moral turpitude" I kept my face the hell OFF the kinky sites.

Agree, here...

Putting one's face photo on a public site does leave one open to "discovery" by anyone.

This is why I don't post facial pictures.

There was absolutely no mention of how this man was outed.  A year or so ago, I read an article about employers hiring a company that had software to ID email addresses used to register for various websites.  The article implied that if you used your email address to register for facebook, and to also register for a sex website, this software could ID you.  I've heard nothing about this recently.  Although, I know that there are companies who can actively search the web for content you may have posted.  Does this include photos you post anonymously?  I don't know.

New technology is leading to more sophisticated searches that are being conducted by employers.  Whether we post pictures or not, I'm not sure that any of us are safe from being outed.

Same reason I don't have a face pic. My clients probably wouldn't be so understanding. (although a few of them are from this site LOL).
That and I'm just fucking butt ugly.[8D]

I think we can have a room full of weapons and people would be less freaked out than if they thought the home owner might be sticking a cigar into someones snatch.

This is simply my opinion, and I have no facts or figures to back this up, however...

Anyone can own weapons. Or cars. Or houses. I mean, you have to go really big ticket and unique before even the average person is really all that impressed to the point of being jealous. I own a modest home, but have been to others in my life that are 20 times the value, and I'm really not feeling jealousy. Kind of like, "oooh, how cool, you own a Lamborghini". Impressed? Certainly, but more in the "good for you" category. Jealous? Takes a lot more than that to make me jealous, and I'm sure, many other people. Many simply know or are not that far removed from those who are quite wealthy, have expensive toys. We think they are cool, but don't go home pouting we don't have them.

With sex especially with kink involved, I think there can be huge jealousies. Add to that he has a damn fine job, working at a college, has a girlfriend who is also into kink. He's just too cool for someone else to handle, in that person's mind. It's jealousy that gets people looking to bring people like him down. Wouldn't surprise me in the least that those who look to do nothing more then finding ways to "bring down the elite" do it out of jealousy, and in this case, probably masturbating to every picture they saw. Not to mention, probably perving a few profiles while they "investigated".
