I think Fet offers the opportunity to meet people, and to express oneself, through aspects other than as a purely kinky/sexual role. That's why I post there daily, and here every few months.

i actually prefer FL to here. i like that group owners and moderators are different everywhere you go, and you can just avoid groups with administration you don't agree with. i like that there are so many different groups you can join; so someone who IS asking for wank fodder can actually just go get it without either irritating other people or being belittled for it. there's a group just for submissive women; no males or dominants of either gender can post, and sometimes it's a really insightful place and other times it's a stampede towards silliness because you literally can't get the other side of the story -- that fascinates me for some reason. =p

i've never had a problem with white writing on black backgrounds, so that doesn't bother me. while i do wish i could search more specifically for a/s/l -- sometimes i meet people and, since i'm sometimes pretty bad with names, i mishear their s/n and can't find them -- i do understand that it keeps down spam. i don't like that you can't delete emails -- despite the recent inbox update, you STILL can't delete emails even after a year or so of them promising "we're working on that!"

i prefer the gallery arrangement there; changing your primary photo is so much easier there than it is here. i prefer the profile layout there. i like the activity feed because i like to poke around and see what people are saying.
for whatever reason, i just feel more comfortable there, in general.

Hannah, you and your friends are simpletons. They couldn't quite grasp the concept of leaving and returning. You somehow missed that part of the tale in it's entirety. You chose to focus on their accomplishments. I truly doubt they have accomplished jack shit.

Forgive me for not believing a supposed reformed coke whore, I have heard that are not very reliable people. Heather you really should have kept with the coke and cock because that is truly your forte, this not so much.

The old tired and trite, "If you don't like it then gtfo!"...I am not really disappointed, for I actually expected less.

I am not here to bury CM not to praise it.

It happens months ago. It seems some people don't care for me.

Add me to the list of people who say that it's like comparing apples and oranges. Fetlife is much, much bigger. Sure, there may be hundreds of thousands of profiles on Collarme, but a very large percentage of them are scammers. The number of people who post in the forums is surprisingly small, and after a little while you even sort of get to know just about everyone. Getting to know everyone who posts on Fetlife would be utterly impossible. I can't even imagine how many daily threads there must be on Fetlife, because I'd assume I'm a member of less than 1% of the groups they have, and I must get 100 daily notifications of a new thread...

There are scammers on Fetlife too, but since the site isn't set up for matchmaking--you can't search users' profiles for specific criteria, and if you search for anyone in your local area, you'll get a completely undigested list of hundreds or even thousands of profiles--I think scammers have a harder time finding suckers. In order to draw attention to themselves, scammers have to post in the forums (because otherwise no one would ever find their profiles), and those posts either get ignored or deleted.

I'm still on both, so obviously I still find value on both.

I took a break from just about everything M/s and slavey and kink related for about six months. I stayed on FetLife for fun with my friends, to play trivia, and basically just interact while I thought my way through things.

For a while I did participate on the discussion groups over there in a serious way...but I found them overwhelming, and cliquish. Basically each group has a core group of posters, and if you don't post in the same tone, sooner or later you're on the outs. It's like people are posting just to agree with each other, and when you post something thoughtful it's met with derision. The fact that people moderate their own groups also means there's always the threat of being booted just for being different. Some enjoy this though... *glares at Domi*

I have never found it a good place to meet people for relationships. CM is definitely better for that. FL really is like a kinky Facebook, but a heckofalot more fun. I hate Facebook with a passion, but I have a good time on FL, and I've met people there that I want to hang out with in real life.

But I've given up doing anything serious over there other than post my blog posts. It seems to just be a big kinky free-for-all, which is fun, but lacking sometimes.

Oh, there are two other major groups on there - the serious Leather groups (large population) and then the photographers and models. I don't fit into either of those so I don't interact much with them. Like LadyHibiscus I do enjoy some of the more "vanilla" groups like the cooking groups, etc., but those definitely aren't my focus.

So now for me it's...FetLife for fun and silliness, CM for meeting a potential relationship partner, and sometimes posting on the forums where there's more of a diverse community of thought. I think the two sites actually complement each other...I don't see them as in competition with each other. I find it odd actually that there are parts of CM where you can't mention FetLife...I don't think they take away from CM at all.

I think this thread is hilarious. Really.

I believe LadyP started it to have a fun thread but of course, it devolved into "ours is better than yours".

I think that anyone with any intelligence can make their own judgement about FL vs CM without putting the opposite down.

I don't care for FL at all and if I did not like CM, I would not be here, obviously.

And just think..I am not active on FL but I somehow do not feel disenfranchised or left out in the world. And I don't care for Facebook either.

I guess I am old fashioned in that I prefer my networking to be done in real life with real people that I speak to.

To those who feel so strongly about this, examine why you feel the need to have so many followers online; I prefer less quantity, more quality in my life.

I like both but prefers fet. I don't have a problem with the black background (come from the old alt.com). I like the groups on there , learn a lot but don't post much.

I also like the "near me " links on event . very useful. I am also very much involved in our local community (also I do not organize anything for personal reasons, I participate as much as I can). Not doable on cm.
