A yearlong sting operation involving a multitude of state and federal agencies brought to justice Wednesday a dangerous ring of raw dairy enthusiasts in California.

Los Angeles police yesterday arrested a farmer, one of her employers and the owner of a raw foods store on criminal conspiracy charges stemming from their allegedly illegal production and sale of unpasteurized milk, cheese and other nefarious dairy products.

Sharon Palmer, 51, James Cecil Stewart, 64, and Eugenie Victoria Bloch, 58, were all charged in a thirteen-count complaint, which includes “the felony crime of processing milk without pasteurization” and four counts of conspiracy. Arraignments were scheduled for today.

I know that I will sleep much better tonight.

I could care less if people want to drink raw or pasteurized milk. Or cheese or yogurt.

I just think that a year long sting is ridiculous. It would have been much cheaper to send a friggin CLERK over to help the folks fill out the required permits.

Or. . . how about this, a citation. Another citation. Cease and desist order. Arrest them.

They should have had ATF let them sell the cheese and track where it went to catch the really big cows.

Greetings

Let me see if I got this right, someone got arrested for selling unpasteurized milk, is not that a bit harsh? If it was marked as unpasteurized what is the problem? if people then wanted the raw product then they could buy that and if people did not want the raw product they could buy something else, and just for the record raw milk straight from the cow to a glass is delicious.

I wish you all well

A lot safer cracking down on the illegal milkers than on those armed drug dealers.

Raw milk and cheese -- the only way I'll have it. Besides, 850 million europeans.

I get sick when I drink the homogenized milk in Canada and yet the moment I'm in Europe and I drink raw milk, it goes down fine! At least in Canada, we can have unpasteurized raw milk cheese, which is the only thing I'll eat.

The real crime is not giving people a choice!

Pasteurisation is there to prevent devastating diseases like tuberculosis, diphtheria and salmonella. Pasteur is a hero for good reason. The Darwin Awards are well-named.

True, but pasturizing milk destroys the enzymes that help you digest it. That's why many struggle with it and are considered lactose intolerant. It is perfectly safe to drink raw milk if it comes from healthy cows and is consumed in a short period of time after milking.

There may be a risk, but today we can test for pathogens and ensure its safety better than we could over a hunred years ago.

I understand if pasturized makes you sick but homogenized shouldn't. Especially if it is mechanically homogenized. You can blend the piss of out of milk in a homogenizer and it doesn't change one chemical chain in the milk. Therefore, it won't have any different effects on your system as nonhomogenized. It just completely blends in the fats, proteins and other liquids in the milk so it has the same consistency. chemically homogenized is another story. You should look into what your are buying.

Raw milk versus pasteurized milk is beside the point.

It is not illegal to sell, buy, and consume raw milk.

It is illegal to sell/buy raw milk WITHOUT a permit.

So, they set up a year long sting with a huge ass list of government agencies over a couple of permits.

Sending over a clerk with the paperwork and to help them fill it out would have been far less costly and time consuming.

You can find some, if you look.It won`t be at the 7-11 tho.

Please, please feel freeeeee to drink some and get the parasites.Better drink some every few days to make sure you get the bugs in your gut real good.

Then we`ll discuss why it and other unsafe foods are illegal.

Deal?

You must be doing well, if this is what you have to gripe about.
