I honestly only feel public display of affection to be up to the dominant in the relationship (within understood guidelines, anyways)

I had a girlfriend who was comfortable enough to walk me on a leash in public... that sorta counts as a display of affection to me lol

For me, it's situational .. even in private.
I had an ex who would walk up and touch my tits or ass while I was mid-sentence on non sexual topics. It greatly pissed me off for him to ask me a serious question then devalue/dismiss/disregard my response.

I like it and encorage him to freely show this form of adoration towards me.

I think that there can be inappropriate moments when a sub can "violate" the Domme/Mistress by such acts of groping; but that is when she must teach him the right time(s) when he can freely express himself to her in that manner.
