TheHeretic -> And now for a real slaughter (8/19/2011 7:36:34 PM)

So when President Obama unilaterally took us into a war in Libya, it was all about protecting the civilians.  Kuhdaffy had said he was going to do very bad things, and we just couldn't have that.  Now you'd think our President, of all people, would understand the uses of overblown rhetoric, but he gave the orders, and went on TV.  We are where we are.

Then, he decided he wanted personal ownership of the thing, and Congress was kind enough to let him have it.

Since the brutal assassination and body burning of the former military commander and his aides, by one of the rebel factions, the civil war is coming along nicely.  Tripoli is cut off, and the rebels have learned to shoot a little straighter.  There was even an American volunteer who dropped out of college to fight for freedom in the country his parents emigrated from, who got a nice little write-up in the paper (no pictures; his parents didn't know he was there).

Which brings us to this bit of analysis on the subject.

And Now for a Real Slaughter

We are at a tender spot in this war. Over this past weekend it appears from press reports that rebel forces have seized reasonably firm control of Zawiya. Zawiya is the first town to the east of the Tunisian border, and it is a supply and transportation hub serving Tripoli. Rebel control of this strategic spot puts the regime in a kind of vise, an observation so obvious that it has been repeatedly made even by journalists in recent days—if you take my point. Anyone can see that the regime is in a vise by the fact that some of its principals are defecting, including reportedly one of its intelligence chiefs.

Now, in a set-piece military situation of the sort described by textbooks concerning Europe, one might expect that at a certain point the regime will simply surrender to its adversaries after enough military pressure and a consequent sufficiency of humble introspection on the part of the besieged have been applied. That is very unlikely to happen in Libya.

Owner59 -> RE: And now for a real slaughter (8/19/2011 8:04:16 PM)

Sounds like you and the self-important "author" are hoping that bad things will happen.

Why would you want that?

"I have been content instead to merely watch as all the predictions I made came true. And they all have."

Wow....."all" his predictions have come true.....

This makes him a psychotic......I`m mean a psychic.....lol

"Content to merely watch"..... Well,if that`s not what an elitists sounds like,I don`t know what does.

So now,he`s generously lowering himself to our level to enlighten us all,.....and comment?

Well, whoopty fuck`n doo.

Why don`t we tell Garfinkle what his boss shrub told us as he fucked us and the Iraqis.......

"Freedom`s on the march"

Me ? Because about an 80% reduction in world population would be beneficial to the human race. I would support it with my own death. A one in five chance at living in Utopia is better than winning the lottery. I've played worse odds than that, but not usually as a sucker bet.

A 20% chance at life in a world with only one fifth the people total. YES, I'll take that bet. One day SOON, I will explain that situation in detail. I don't mean for all the small good countries to perish. I mean these fucking cesspools in which people are too fucking crammed together, in which they have simply been fucking too much (without protection) for the last fifty fucking years.

In these tin cans, take us at random, and if I have to go I will hold my head up like a Nazi war criminal. But understand I don't want this done in their style, in their way. Not racist at all. Totally random, except for maybe a slight weighting factor towards politicians and bankers.

I am not kidding. I am willing to take my chances if the opportunity comes up. But I want to KNOW that it will be done. That whatever is left of my family and friends' families will have that better life. For that I will take the risk.

Yes.

No.

Not you.

Splain. You don't want ME to go ?

Or you don't want you to go ?

Someone will have to make Termy get the short straw as we can't have people like him spoiling utopia. [sm=blasted.gif]

Great so India and most of Africa and South America will have to go. [sm=biggrin.gif]

You just said a lot of crammed countries would have to go, which would often mean third world countries. I assume many of the countries you define as small but good are in the West. That will inevitably raise issues of race.

I'm sure they would have a better life grieving for the loss of their loved ones! What a brilliant idea Termy! [:D]

Sanity -> RE: And now for a real slaughter (8/19/2011 9:39:46 PM)

Could be we will soon find out who these rebels who we are installing into power are, and what it is that they want exactly.

Owner59 -> RE: And now for a real slaughter (8/19/2011 9:48:20 PM)

That`ll give you and rich plenty of time to wash muammar`s feet.

That's what the press release said, Termy, and that's the reasoning he has to own.  Firm was right on the head of the matter with the wmd comparison.

TheHeretic -> RE: And now for a real slaughter (8/19/2011 11:31:11 PM)

Yes, O59.  You've made it clear a number of times that you love war when a Democrat starts it.

tazzygirl -> RE: And now for a real slaughter (8/20/2011 12:53:43 AM)

I have read reports that Kuhdaffy is seeking somewhere to go.

Termyn8or -> RE: And now for a real slaughter (8/20/2011 1:19:37 AM)

"Someone will have to make Termy get the short straw as we can't have people like him spoiling utopia"

You might not be much of a racist, but you certainly are one hell of a bigot. That's the real definition you know, not what you find in the bullshit. You want an advantage over me in a situation where I declared that it was totally random except for politicians and bankers.

So which are you, a politician or a banker ?
