oh forgawd sake, Im a sucker for geordie tooo hun:)
you should see what happens to me with a glaswegian.
I can tell the difference between yorkshire and lancashire, AND lincolnshire, (mothers tongue)and a sunderland(best friend at school) and peterlee(my dad went up there to work)
I have a hertfordshire accent, mixed with bastardized cockney(grandfather) but my phone voice is pretty good cheltenham all gals skool!

I lived darn sarf for quite a few years, so I have a soft geordie accent with cockernee undertones. And overall fairly posh, so I've been told (despite being dragged up on a council estate :-D)

I tend to be able to mesh with whatever dialect Im talking to, but gets weird with a m ix of more than five:)I can listen to a geordie accent all day tho

There's a lot of Scottish terminology in the Geordie dialect, but we are most definitely English. And it's (slightly) warmer here lol

Sorry if I offended anyone wit' me lack 'o dialect recognition, that wasn't me intention but as ye can spy wit' ye eye by th' way 'tis be written, through a scurvy pirate tavern (Pirate translator), thar be some similarities. Also, bein' American 'n not too overly familiar wit' British dialects (like AT ALL), I just had never seen anythin' written quite 'tis way accept on FaceBook wit' scurvy pirate speak.



Again, I am sorry if I was offensive, sooo not trying to be in any way offensive. I am however guilty of being an American who was sleep posting and who is completely unaware of British writing/speaking styles.

Oh, I'm with you. I know nothing about dialects ... or geography, for that matter. I wouldn't have even guessed British if not for his user name. (I actually would have guessed Australian. Shows what I know.)

Pirate-speak is usually done in Cornish, I think - or some version of it as rendered by James Mason as Long John Silver.  That's the opposite end of the country!
