Another multi-million dollar donor/bundler benefits from Obama's largesse.

Not only are they granted broadband licenses worth billions, but the administration pressures a 4 Star General to soften his testimony in opposition to their technology. Its a small matter of drowning out GPS satellites and towers that give protection everywhere from your local fire and police to missile guidance systems.

After Obama is fired in 2012 which donor that he gave hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to will hire him? The list of potentials will get longer...till it gets shorter from bankruptcies.

I was well aware that the entire LightSquared deal was hinky months ago, as did several other people I know, but didn't bother to post because all of my sources were personal and industry specific (not in journals and blogs that just anyone would read or understand).

I suspect it's going to be worse than expected.  The head of the FCC refused to release any documents with conversations he had about the deal with the entity, or the administration.  Just admitting he had conversations with the entity (LightSquared) is a prima facie admission of a violation of their rules.

What are the odds that somehow, someone will be able to trace this back to Nixon

Well, I think they are for sure going to try for Bush, and probably drag Reagan into it.

Nixon's always good for gut shooting however.  He's probably their favorite, after Hitler (well, Bush, lately).

Some other interesting facts:

Every agency with an interest in GPS other than the FCC objected to approving lightSquared.
Obama was (is?) an investor in lightSquared.
The Chairman of the FCC was a major bundler for Obama and allegedly personally shepherded the application process.

What was that about the scandal free Obama administration?

was the daily mail actually ahead of the curve on this one?

$5.4 million per job created. The cost of the stimulus package for "clean energy".....so far.

I think it was "hope and change"? Or maybe, "the most transparent administration ever"?

Wait, no, Ive got it, "lobbyists and special interests shall have no part of my (Obamas) administration... "

I don't know but I could compare it to Watergate. This one is sure to be dandy.  If the administration pressured a 4 Star General to change his testimony wouldn't that be suborning perjury ?

tazzygirl -> RE: lightSquared casts a shadow on Obama (9/16/2011 9:26:08 PM)

I have no problem with the "was". The "is" would tend to piss me off. Then again, how many politicians have portfolios that include gas, insurance/healthcare, technology and the like?

Technically yes. but probably not prosecutable. Jay Clown Carney already presented the defense. "the Administration didn't pressure him to lie, just to conform more closely to Administration policies".

FR

Four hours ago (it says) ;

"A House Armed Services subcommittee hearing on Thursday became an hours-long forum for Republican lawmakers to bash LightSquared. “I have never seen a state agency or a federal agency advocate that strongly on behalf of any private sector company unless somebody’s wheel was getting greased,” Rep. Austin Scott (R-Ga.) said at one point.

Same old. Hey, what's good for big Agra and big Pharma should be good for big Telecon* right ? It's the American way. You notice how when the US started referring to itself as the whole of "America" that Canadians didn't mind and just call themselves Canadians, Mexicans have no problem being called Mexicans, PAnamanians have no problem with being called PAnamanians and so forth, leaving us to call ourselves Americans ?

Yup. it's the American way !

* NOT a typo.
