The economics of the future is somewhat different. You see money does not exist in the twenty fourth century. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in our lives. We work to better ourselves and the rest of humanity

Or, on a slightly less pessimistic note, advances in technology which mean that every human need can be catered for with little or no need for us to work for it. Actually there would be no need for economics. For that place to exist there would have to be no scarcity of anything. As soon as there is scarcity of anything of value there is economics, and as soon as there is scarcity then acquisition of the scarce resource becomes a goal.

well, if you have money then wealth (or creating more) isnt necessarily a driving force now. If you believe that the Gates have their charity to better the rest of humanity (and not merely a tax dodge as some claim), then there is perhaps a twinkling of that now...
